Hello! My name is Furkan. I am a computer engineer, currently working as an innovation manager in Braunschweig, Germany. This is my "about me" section to represent my uttermost essential existence in the couchsurfing world.

Born at a very young age, I am analogue by nature and digital by design. At the age of fifteen, I faced the bitter truth of not being the smartest, the strongest or the most handsome person in the world. It took me another fifteen years to digest this heartbreaking chunk of information. But here I am, at the age of thirty something, living in peace with my weaknesses that I never speak of and my strengths that I always humblebrag about. Fresh out of a late adolescence, I am a part-time lover and a full-time friend.

I work as a caffeine dependent life-form and generate concrete value on linkedin. With a distinguished BSc in Computer Engineering from a university that no one heard of and with an esteemed MBA in International Management from two universities that nobody cares about, I stand tall in the corporate ecosystem. Although there are millions of my kind crawling on the job market, I manage to stand out with my highly advanced mediocracy adaptation skills. My vast superficial knowledge nearly in all trivial disciplines grants me the capacity to rule over profound projects with authority. In my environment, I am known for satisfying my customers without getting their hands dirty with any -God forbid- value creating activity.

May it be for formal or informal institutions, for commercial or non-commercial establishments, for public or top secret organizations, I matter a lot. If the general public wouldn’t be drawn in ignorance or if anyone would be kind enough to inform them about my existence, I would undoubtedly matter for them, too. I am a noble depositor of banks, a fierce-less consumer of supermarkets and a half-educated luminary for the society. My existence stems from various necessities, among which the need for mediocracy blazes the trail. I am a man of mystery and power, whose power is exceeded only by his mystery.

Since 2008, I am an active member on CouchSurfing. I’ve met many extraordinary people through CS and collected hours of interesting stories. I have precious friendships thanks to CS and it is an essential part of my social life. Whenever I move to another city/country I use CS to build new friendships and this method has never failed me. I love CS.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Since 2008, I have hosted more than 100 people in multiple countries. I was also hosted by nice people more than a couple of times. Maybe half of the friends who honored me with their presence haven't left any reference, but that's fine. They were never asked to. You won't ever be asked to.

I don't have the slightest problem with people looking for free accommodation. Traveling isn't always cheap, I am well aware. Though, considering my past experience here, I take it more slowly these days. I try to meet and host people whose friendship wills are bigger than their accommodation needs.

You don't need to worry! There are enough couches for everyone! The CS community is huge. It is just that I have completed my mission as a "couch" and prefer to be a "friend" who opens his house, and more importantly his heart, for his friends.

The thing I value most in a person is sincerity and friendship. Traveling for buildings or monuments is not my fashion. In the past, I went thousands of kilometers just to tell my friends that I am there for them. I feel complete when somebody I haven't met yet, comes from a random place and reminds me that I am just another stranger in this universe. I want to watch the world in your shoes.

I am on CS because it gives me the opportunity to meet different worlds of people.

Intereses

I love to be in the nature. May it be a trip to the desert, a mountain hike, a forest camp etc. High quality conversations are my biggest pleasure. Entertaining me is not difficult. Let's grab two cups of tea and sit under a tree. I played basketball in different teams in the past and organized a few basketball events in frames of CS.
