About Me

Hey ho! I'm 23 years old and just graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. After changing my major from Psychology to Marketing to Accounting, I finally settled on Philosophy. Which means I question every little thing I encounter in life. It also means that if I had a dollar for every person who has harassed me about my major...I could have paid for my college tuition by now. I just got back from Peru and Ireland now the travel bug has taken over, and I'm looking to travel even more.

Now some random facts:
- I attended an 11-day Vipassana retreat in California
- I attended a 10-day ayahuasca retreat in Peru
- I crowd surfed at a Cage the Elephant concert
- I hitchhiked my way around Ireland
- Sushi and burritos are tied for my favorite meals
- I'll probably call you 'dude'
- Christopher McCandless, Robin Williams, and Alan Watts are my heroes
- I actually take life much more serious than I lead others to believe. I'm motivated, disciplined, and a hard worker.
- Just a dude trying to see all there is to see, and meet everyone there is to meet

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because of 4 reasons:

1) When I travel, I like to be immersed in whatever location I am at. Whether that be camping in the outdoors, or staying with the locals. I like to meet the people who know about the area I am in, and know the secret little hideaways that other tourists may not discover.

2) I like travelling alone, but I love the "home-y" aspect of living as well. I think solitude is just as important as company.

3) I travel on a budget. I'm trying to travel the world at 22, and I'm trying to see as much as I can. I don't need a nice hotel room. And luckily there are generous people like you out there who open up their homes to people like me.

4) I love me a good couch. Couches are the underrated heroes of the home.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a solo, cross country road trip when I was 19. I saved up money, I bought a tent and a backpack, and set out. I traveled for 3 months and went to nearly every state west of Colorado. It was equally the most liberating, terrifying, eye opening, humbling, and happiest experience I have ever had in my life. I participated in a 11 day Vipassana retreat, which is a meditation retreat where you meditate for 11 hours a day and are not allowed to speak, look, or touch one another. I ran into so many beautiful strangers who helped me out along the way. Some who gave me food, some who offered me their home, some who just hiked with me.

Overall, it just helped me realize some things: that I am able to do so much more than I had ever thought possible; that this big, scary world we live in actually isn't so big and scary after all...but is actually FULL of beautiful and kind people; that we're here for a short time, so make the most of it. And help as many people along the way as possible.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am one of the most open-minded, easygoing, and mindful guests that you will have. Or you may have had some pretty awesome couchsurfers in the past. But I'll try my best to live up to whatever expectations you have for the perfect couchsurfer. I'd love to share our stories and experiences, I'd love to be a helping hand with anything needed, and I would be honored to sleep on your couch.

Countries I’ve Visited
