About Me
CURRENT MISSION
†Current plan (or lack of one)†:
Currently I’m on a backpacking journey across Northeast India, with no fixed itinerary, just a tent and an open mind. Roughly, I’ll be starting from Guwahati → Meghalaya → back to Assam (Silchar side) → Tripura → Mizoram → Manipur (if feasible) → Nagaland → Arunachal Pradesh.
I’d love to connect with hosts along the way who are open to sharing space, stories, or even just a cup of tea. I travel light, adapt easily, and genuinely enjoy meaningful conversations and local experiences.
ABOUT ME
Hey everyone,
I’m Gaurav — still very much a work in progress. If life were a user manual, I think I accidentally skipped the “know yourself/About me” chapter… so now I’m figuring it out the long (and slightly chaotic) way.
Life’s been kind so far (maybe a little too comfortable), but lately I’ve been choosing uncertainty over routine, trading plans for stories and comfort for new experiences.
I'm a big believer in:
“The most difficult thing in life is to know yourself.” — Thales of Miletus
So here I am, collecting conversations, perspectives, and a few good life lessons along the way. If you’ve got a story or good chai, I’m always in 🙂
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I use Couchsurfing to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and unique life stories. As a student, it helps me travel on a budget while learning from people’s real-life experiences and getting local insights that go way beyond typical tourism. For me, Couchsurfing isn’t just about finding a place to stay; it’s about building meaningful connections and exploring each destination in an authentic, unique way. Every host and fellow traveler adds something memorable to my journey, making each trip a story worth sharing.
Interests
I’m genuinely interested in people, places, and the stories that connect them.
I enjoy exploring new places, capturing moments through photography, and trying local food, not just for the experience, but to understand the culture behind it. For me, travel is less about destinations and more about perspectives.
I’m a good listener and naturally drawn to meaningful conversations, life journeys, random thoughts, different viewpoints, all of it.
If it involves good chai, long conversations, or a simple walk around your city, I’m always up for it
- traveling
- meeting new people
- sarcasm
- listening to music
- visiting new places
- learning about different cultures
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I enjoy vibing to a mix of Bhojpuri songs, retro classics, and English tracks, providing a diverse musical experience. 🎶
Books: Naah...Not into books 😒
Movies: When it comes to movies, I'm drawn to crime thrillers and heartwarming high school romances, exploring the excitement of mysteries and love on the big screen. 🎬
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the craziest things I’ve done is hitchhiking across multiple states in India with just a backpack and a tent. I’ve camped solo in forests, remote villages, and even in the middle of the Thar Desert under the stars. Each ride and each night brought a new story - raw, real, and unforgettable.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can share my travel insights, cultural experiences, photography skills, cooking, and my journey as an introvert traveling alone.
Learn: Discover new cultures, cuisines, life stories, local expertise, and skills/hobbies from hosts and fellow travelers.
Share: Offer hospitality, share my own travel stories and experiences, engage in community activities, exchange photos, and spread positivity and open-mindedness.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I bring to hosts a gift of cultural exchange, sharing engaging travel stories, unwavering respect, positive interactions, and heartfelt appreciation. As a thoughtful and considerate guest, I aim to enhance the Couchsurfing experience for both myself and my generous host, creating meaningful connections along the way.
