Hello! I'm an artist, writer, and avid traveler. I grew up in New Zealand but have been living in Brooklyn, New York for the last 8 years, where I work as a freelance writer and in various publishing and production roles. My partner, Elliot, and I work and travel together (he's a photographer). You can find our projects published in VICE magazine, SUITCASE, Collective Quarterly; I also write for Artforum and Aperture, and Elliot also has work in The Atlantic and National Geographic Magazine, among other publications.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
To meet new friends from all walks of life, deepen my experience of places, and grow my understanding of the world through people. Every trip for us is an opportunity to explore the discreet charms and social characteristics that make places unique. I know that everyone loves to travel and hates to be a tourist, but we do try to go off the beaten path and travel as locally as we can. By locally, I guess I mean that we prefer to use public transport, stay with people rather than at hotels or hostels, and enjoying local haunts. All of our experiences on Couchsurfing so far have been so enriching and helpful. We've met so many incredible people and are constantly humbled by the openness and generosity of our hosts. (If we can ever afford to move out of our shoe-box-sized apartment in Brooklyn, we would love to become hosts ourselves...but that's not looking likely anytime soon, unfortunately, unless we win the lottery - or change professions).
What I Can Share With Hosts
Good cheer! I genuinely enjoy listening to others and sharing stories over a meal or a glass of wine or beer. I also like to be helpful in any way that I can (walking your dog, cooking dinner).
