To stop work from getting in the way of travel and learning.
I love teaching world history (and other global studies classes) in Fairbanks, Alaska. I've put off traveling more for too long, and I'm making it more of a priority in life. I like working hard, but then really love having time off to travel, garden, or just sleep in if I want.
Learn something new every day. Leave the world better than I found it. Empathize.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd love to host visitors, even though I don't have a ideal place for many people. I'd love to meet more local people when I travel, and this is a perfect way to do that and extend my travel budget.
History, politics, cultures, photography, visual arts, enjoying unique food, wine & beer, cooking, flying, my dogs, gardening, skiing/hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love films by the Coen Brothers, Kubrick, Woody Allen, and many other sharp-witted comedies. I read history in order to learn more about the human condition and different cultures, and in order to broaden my students' awareness of different perspectives.
