To enjoy my life and live it with as much balance as possible. To make time and space for those I love...and surf as much as possible.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in New Zealand and Uganda. I love to travel, but I also love being home in New Zealand. My family and close friends are very important to me.
I also really value meeting new people, and discovering more of whats out there in the world.
Since university I have worked as an event manager, researcher, techie, video editor, personal trainer....etc!! I now work in the construction industry (natural progression from dancing of course).

I also volunteer for Lean In Auckland, a group that supports women in their careers, and in leadership, and just in general really. I love it.

I like to attempt to be a 'human being', not a 'human doing'.
I love to have a sense of progress in my life; to feel like I'm going somewhere with what I'm currently doing/being... while also loving where I'm at and 'living in the moment' to the best of my ability; remembering to savour/relish the moment might be a better way of putting it.... when the moments are relish-worthy of course.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

How I participate in couch-surfing is both by surfing and hosting! I'm about to embark on a short west coast USA adventure this July - for my honeymoon! I'm really hoping to experience some more of the American couchsurfing culture, and introduce my husband to it.

Although most of my hosting hasn't been through this webite, I have had some awesome and interesting travelers sleep on my couch in NZ, through friends of friends, and travelers I know etc.

I couchsurfed with my sister around Canada and the States, and it has become my favorite way to travel. It's such a fantastic way to experience and be part of a place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm loving the couch-surfing experience so far. There's some very generous and awesome people out there.

Surfing (mostly longboard/logging), dance, skiing (especially when it involves fun weekends away with friends!), movies (love movies!), attempting to play guitar, good tv serials, arts, the gym, being silly and immaturely ludicrous at times, books, social sports, chilling with cool people.

Music - most genres if it's good music! R&B, soul, 80's rock, pop, Hip Hop, even some country!
Movies - am slightly addicted to movies. Love a good thriller, or throwback comedy action, also adore some good chick flicks - especially if there's some humor in there! Straight up action is also very welcome... pretty much everything but horror - it's just not my preferred genre. Comedy movies, especially some good dry / deadpan humour, are definitely a favourite.
Books- I just love books...always have always will. Am fascinated by their ability to take you to a different place and time, and open up to you a different world, perspective or experience.

There's a few!!! Jumping off those rocks in Cinque Terre, Italy was FREAKY!
Working in the Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise for two months....waking up and seeing that (mountains, lakes, glaciers) every day was so impacting - very hard to describe.
As I travel peoples generosity continually leaves me awestruck. It's not a side-affect of travel that I expected, or something one can capture in a photo, but it is a part of the travel experience that have come to truly treasure and appreciate.
