I am an easy-going guy, travelling quite a lot whenever I can: I love the adventure in it, the romantic part of seeing the world, and most of all: the social part, meeting great people all around the globe - and visiting them again. I met so many people on my travels and visited them for their weddings (Ecuador, Israel, Mexico) or just to see them (Australia, Spain, Latvia, Estonia, USA, Ecuador, etc.). In 2005 I went on my first big trip, for 12 months around the globe. And in 2013 that I realized how important it is to do that again. So I started my second year off. After I started in September 2013, I headed East going via the Transsiberian Railway from Russia through Mongolia to China, then hitting Korea, Japan, and Taiwan before I deciding it's just about time to see beautiful South America again. So I spent two months in Argentina, then traveled through Chile, Columbia, Cuba and Canada. Last destination: NYC! Besides travelling, I have lived for one year in the U.S. (Texas) and half a year in Estonia (Tallinn) - two beautiful countries, though not exactly the same size :-) PHILOSOPHY Take your time for friends or otherwise time will take your friends.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
Since 2004, I have been member of hospitalityclub.org; So I know the idea pretty well and have made great experiences around the world! Since 2006 I also hosted people via couchsurfing. So what I do is offering accommodation and advice as well as seeking just the same. However, I also just love to meet locals for a beer or coffee or to go with them to whatever they do. Their everydays jobs can be quite amazing to foreign travelers!

One Amazing Thing I've Done
In total around three years of backpacking experiences around the world. So many amazing experiences. The more I travel the more I realize it is about the people you meet - I can offer so many stories about people that made my travels more worthwhile than any big city ever could... Some of my favorite "host-stories": Making friends for a lifetime (Ecuador). Saving a great guy's life (Australia). Interview with a Hiroshima survivor (Japan). Going backstage in a theatre meeting a national star (Russia). Receiving antler and snake liquor as a party's special guest (Taiwan). Sleeping in a tradtional ger-tent (Mongolia). Soaking with my hosts in hot baths (Japan). Watching the sunrise from the rooftop while everyone else is asleep but my host (US). Receiving a huge welcome party and an even bigger farewell party (what might that say... - US).
Teach, Learn, Share
I am happy to tell travelling stories and sharing all I know about Germany (which is quite a bit). In case you have not yet been to Germany and did not intend to go - you will change your mind after I told you about the places you may see. :-) I was also told I am quite good in correcting people in English or German (upon request, if one likes to improve his/her English or German). I myself want to know about other places history! Culture! Background info! And: Best pubs and beers! :-)
What I Can Share With Hosts
