About Me

As with all of us, I seem to feel like a new and different person every week. I suppose there are some things that stay constant, though.

If you want to know what's going on inside my head, listen to the songs I have written.

At home, I read books, listen to music with my eyes closed, bake bread, drink coffee, chat with my wonderful flatmates, furnish my apartment with things found on the street, keep up with all my CS requests, and plot art projects.

I'm terribly introspective, but this doesn't mean that I'm always quiet. It means I think more than I talk, but I love listening to others' stories.

There are things that make me go passionately crazy: music, words, art, love.

Music, Movies, and Books

Don't we ever get bored of comparing mythologies? Well, here are some of my loves:

The Journal of Albion Moonlight by Kenneth Patchen This should be a classic. Surrealist anti-novel, protest against War and Murder, exploration of love and sex, experimentation with page layout, and some of the most beautiful passages you'll ever read; plus a conversation between Jesus and Hitler.

Thinguma*jigsaw's (awakeinwhitechapel) is my favorite recent discovery. They play a sort of dark (all the songs are "about" Jack the Ripper) folk-influenced art music, with an element of horror movie soundtracks. Creepy+beautiful. Banjo, musical saw, flute, and vocals. Even includes tributes to Daniel Johnston & Philip Glass.

La Antena is an amazing Argentinian almost-silent black & white film from 2007. It's a poem of a movie, in the best possible way. Beautiful, beautiful imagery, a dadaesque universe, and a genius musical score combine to create something that makes your heart ache for its beauty.

Sophie Calle is my favorite artist lately. Her work contains a singular intimacy that strikes a most vulnerable and shimmering chord within me. This is my idea of what an "artist" is.
