Overview
About Me
Hi, my name is Håvar. I moved up north to Finnmark from south-western Norway about nine years ago now.
Currently we live in the Pasvik border valley south of Kirkenes (about 38km from town), me and my wife are working on getting our little farm up and running here. We've previously hosted a lot of great people at our old place in Neiden.
I'm an outdoors man and really like to be outside most of the time and doing different activities in every season of the year. I also like hanging out with friends, cooking up some good seasonal food, listening to music and reading good books.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing to meet new, interresting and amazing people from all over the world. Also I want to show people a wonderful piece of Norway that I myself have come to love.
Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to music I'm mostly into metal, 60-70's rock, indiepop and less known modern music of different genres.
I usually watch documentaries about nature, politics, exploration, outdoors, mounaineering, climbing, skiing and sailing. I'm also into some fictional movies if they have a good and/or interresting plot.
I read quite a bit, usually books by old explorers, and local history books. I can also enjoy a good novel or other fictional books.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you alot about the history of this part of Norway, what you can experience here and give some reccomendations. Also anything outdoors related is a good topic where I have a lot to teach.
I want to learn more about different cultures told by the people themselves, and not by some text book.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will cook up some good and healthy food for us, probably while playing some good music that you've never heard before but like really well. If you want we can take a tour of the sourrounding area by car, bike or on foot, or if you are staying for some days you can join me fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing or biking depending on the season. I can also suggest one of the traits of the arctic; watching the northern lights or staying out in the midnight sun.
I currently have sleeping space for two couchsurfers. I live about a 1/2 hour drive from Kirkenes, but I drive there almost daily, and if you're in a pinch, let me know and I'll see what I can do. :)
