About Me

Hi! My name is Harry. I'm 25 and I was born in Trowbridge, England but moved to Fredericton, Canada when I was 7 years old. I lived in Canada for about 18 years, but I've bounced around betwen England and Canada since August 2024. I currently live in Longyearbyen, Svalbard with my partner while they're finishing up their Erasmus here! They're headed back to Sweden in December to finish their studies, but I'm planning on staying here for a year or two.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My partner actually introduced me to couchsurfing! I'd never head of it before. Growing up, their mum would host couchsurfers, and eventually they went on family couchsurfing adventures too. I love travelling and meeting people so I am really excited to meet people too, especially as I am lucky enough to live in one of the coolest places on our planet (literally lol).

Svalbard can be an expensive place to visit, so we would love to host those of you who want a taste of the high arctic without spending their life savings! The town is small but pretty. The sun stops rising completely on October 27, and you can't really leave town without a rifle because of polar bears. That being said, the town itself has some lovely things to do for a 2-3 day stay, and if you want to spend the money on a boat trip, it would 100% be worth it. We can show you around town, answer all of your questions about this weird and wonderful place, and just hang out!

My favourite book is The Pillars of the Earth -Ken Follett

Teach, Learn, Share
