About Me

"At least once a year go where you have never been before" (Dalai Lama)
Not having to go to the office anymore frees me to do other interesting things like volunteering and of course traveling. I like to travel a few times a year to places like Tajikistan, Mali, Samoa, Yemen. I have visited more than 150 countries - maybe one of them was yours.

PLEASE NOTE: After having received numerous requests for one-night hospitality, I have decided to change my availability. If a visitor arrives in the evening, leaves the next morning and hardly has time to say hello, it makes me feel "used" and that is not a good feeling. Unless there is a real emergency (make sure you put that word into your request), I will not accept one-night requests anymore. Even for a one night visit I still have to wash sheets and towels, prepare the room etc. - think about it: would you do it?
ALSO: I am more than willing to write a reference for visitors. However, from now on I will submit my reference only AFTER visitors have written theirs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Before there was Couchsurfing there was Servas and I have been a member of that organization for more than 30 years. Even though Servas prides itself of being a peace organization, goals of both organizations are similar and I have met many wonderful people in both, some of them have become long-term friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At 59 I ran my first Marathon. Then I added a few more, including Boston which is the oldest and most prestigious Marathon in the country. After that, I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. This was a fundraiser for Finca and the money I raised went to the women of Tanzania.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to share some of my experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Having lived a fair number of years, there are quite a few stories to share - if you want to take some time out of your busy schedule.
