About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find myself while meeting great people around the world. Do not forget what is important to me without being afraid of changing. Smile always possible.
ABOUT ME
Well, for starters, I'm currently living in Belo Horizonte (capital of the State of Minas Gerais, in Brazil), but I'm not from here. My country is really big, and sometimes with also a big difference of oportunities. So, when I was 10 years old, my parents decided to move from Teresina (capital of State of Piaui in nortwest of Brazil), to Brasília, the Brazil capital. There, when I was studying my journalism degree, I never thought I could EVER travel abroad and see the world. However, in 2011 I had a friend who went exchange to study in Portugal. At that time I didn't know, but I had dreams that not even myself knew: meeting great people while thanking God every beatiful street, city, mountain, castle, history and enoughly safe experience around the world.
I made my plans, asked for help to my parents, worked a semester without spending one tiny dollar, and on February of 2012 I took an airplain to live for six months in Portugal. Until today, that was the most amazing experience I have ever lived. Because of that, I visited unimaginable places, could make true friends of other countries, and had new experiences and adventures. For the first time I was able to travel on my own and I got to learn so much about the world and myself.
Now, I dont even live in Brasília anymore, cause I realized the world is too small whilest big, and I understood I could be happy anywhere else if there I had enough good friends to share a beer, a laughter, great memories, pictures and my tears. So, I'm living in Belo Horizonte to make my master degree in Social Communication Studies and don't have a lot of free time during the week. Also, I share my apartment with two other friends (from the time of my exchange in Portugal) and can't acctually have more people here with frequency, but it would be a pleasure for me to meet new people in the weekends and be a good company to a drink or a coffee.
So, for now, I'm going to try meeting new people here in my city on the weekends. If you'd like me to join you on a tour in Belo Horizonte, just send me a request and we'll see if things work out!
I'm very easygoing, and love to listen personal histories from people. My friends say I always have a smile on my face and that my hugs are great...I cannot argue against that.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I miss meeting different people, and miss learning things from them. I never surfed, but I believe this is a true way to get closer to interesting people and local experiences.
Also, I'd love to accompany travellers in my city in tours, coffee houses, bars, museums, even though I cannot actualy host someone right now...
Music, Movies, and Books
Apart from the books I have to read to my master degree, I'm used to read three books at a time, so I'm not really a fast reader. I always have one of poems and a romance for the bedtime, and another one to the bus time. I love Agatha Chiristie's stories, the literature of JK Rowling (Harry Potter) and Machado de Assis (Dom Casmurro) and I have absolutely love for classic novels such as Les Misérables (Victor Hugo), The Karamazov Brothers (Dostoyevsky) and Anna Karenina (Toltói); and also for poets as Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Paulo Leminski, Cora Coralina and Manuel Bandeira.
My favorite kind of music depends of my mood. But from Adele to Queen, my heart have space to all tipes of dancing music, you know, to close your eyes and jump, dance with a partner or just shake the skeleton. Of brazilian styles, I love popular music (MPB), pagode, samba e forró.
Movies = I love to watch movies my friends indicate to me. Usually I like dramas, movies that talks about a certain historic event (wars, for instance), and dislike watch movies that have unecessary violence or rape, and terror in general....I prefer laughing while whatching something :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I bungee jumped from a bridge on the border between Portugal and Spain, just to end a day I had earlier made rafting in the river...I dont think I would have the same courage again! hahahah
I got lost every one of the four days I was in London, smiling and didn't believing I was truly there! It was my first travel alone in an English speaker country and noticing my English was actually good made me believe much more in myself. When I arrived in my hostel every night I was so happy I couldn't wait to get lost again next day.
I did my first tatoo two weeks before my return from Portugal to Brazil. It is a Wind Rose with the phrase: It is possible!
