About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel where we can ski, surf, climb mountains, eat weird foods, visit friends, make friends, couchsurf, communicate in hand gestures, and learn something new.
ABOUT US
We are devoted travelers and students of the world, learned scientists, and we are living to love life. We both have our undergraduate degrees in Environmental Biology and our Graduate degrees in Natural Resources. Check out Esme's travel blog and photography website: www.esmecadientephotography.com/welcome/ to learn more about us and where we have been. We have lived all over the western U.S., and are currently enjoying life in Santa Fe, NM. We have spent time traveling through South America and Mexico couch surfing the whole time, and multiple trips around the European Alps, Iceland, Asia and the Balkans. We both love to surf, mountain bike, travel, meet new people, and most of all, ski and snowboard!
PHILOSOPHY
Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Since we have become active on couchsurfing we have had the opportunity to host many people in the places we have lived and we have been hosted numerous times in many countries. We have done extended travels in South America and Europe, and had the chance to be hosted and meet some interesting people along the way. We have also been hosted by some wonderful people in Hawaii, a Mexico and all over Europe. We have been hosted in over 20 countries and have never had a bad experience! We are now living in Santa Fe, NM where we are happy to host people, with a preference to international travelers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have had some wonderful experiences on couchsurfing. we have met some great people and made some lasting friendships. We have been hosted by people who have then come to visit us, and we have hosted people that we go to visit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The silence in the early morning when you wake up and the town and the mountains are covered in a thick, new layer of beautiful powdery snow that hushes the soft noises of a sleepy mountain morning. The excitment and anticipation as you prepare your thermos with hot tea and soup for the long day of backcountry skiing ahead.
Isaac has had the amazing opportunity to take advantage of his native rights on his native lands in Alaska. He fishes the nutrient rich cold waters for salmon, hunts his lands for deer, works among the brown and black bears in the forest, and flys and boats among the scenically stunning Inner Passage of the Alexander Archipeligo. Few people have such a deep heart connection with their lands, people and natural resources.
We both have traveled a lot separately and together. Our travels have always brought amazing adventures, including but not limited to crack climbing Indian Creek Utah, backcountry splitboarding Mount Baker, rafting a 36 mile stretch of class IV river in the Amazon Basin in Ecuador, Climbing Volcan Villarica in Chile, a wild adventure through the Sacred Valley and Macchu Picchu in Peru, hiking through rice terraces in the Philippines, skiing through the European Alps, gawking at glaciers in Iceland, and Mountain Biking through the beautiful lake district of Argentina.
Teach, Learn, Share
Isaac grew up in Alaska and I grew up in New Mexico. The food from New Mexico and Alaska is very different and we love to cook together, melding the two culinary styles into a delicious meal. We will most likely be able to share a meal with you. We have extra mountain bikes and we would love to take people biking.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Genuine and gracious guests, tales from afar, we can make you dinner in most situations.
