ABOUT ME

There are three of us travelling, my partner Shari, myself and 1 year old daughter Kira. I Grew up on Norfolk Island but since I finished school i have traveled a lot. Lived in Switzerland for a while and spent years studying in Brisbane Australia. Finally finished my Uni degree in Berlin, which was excellent. Currently the three of us are travelling the UK and Europe. My partner Shari is a chef and runs a cafe on Norfolk Island.

Be good to people and treat them like you yourself wish to be treated and be confident in yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy to host and be hosted. Norfolk Island is a pretty remote place so not too many couch surfers come through there but I have managed to convert a few people to be hosts. Just have to try not to be so busy when hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Originally I heard about it from a friend while i was travelling in India. I have done a fair bit of couch surfing now and have met some excellent people with so far no bad experiences. Really nice people and a great way to see an area. It really is the best way to see a place and get a very short concept of what its like to live where ever you end up staying.

Interests

I like new ideas and am interested in changing my own perceptions on things as I gain an understanding through my experiences. Traveling just happens to accomplish that though I guess its only to meet the people along the way and get a brief glimpse into their worlds. I am fascinated also by the beauty of objects and am a collector of things, old things and unusual things especially.

Music, Movies, and Books

Was a Movie aholic but have tried to cut down substantially, some favorites are a few Coen Brother films, movies with great new ideas or perspectives. Like collecting books, loved hitch hikers guide to the galaxy (an oldy i know) and books that give you something. Like just about all types of good music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did a two year trip overland from Norfolk Island to France. So excellent. Have bored my friends with the stories for years. I also once saw someone light a funeral pyre with a firework rocket.

Teach, Learn, Share

What really interests me is how people are different or perhaps happier and more relaxed traveling when compared to being at home. I hope to learn how to be a better host, i feel that i am usually very distracted when hosting and i think that is a shame considering surfers come so far to visit Norfolk Island.
