CURRENT MISSION I'm trying to find a comfy couch in Victoria, BC, where I've lived on and off for the past 10 years. I'm wrapping up some business before going back home to Miami. ABOUT ME I was born in Cuba and raised in Miami. I moved to Victoria, BC, in 2000, and spent the last 10 years commuting cross-continent. I'm a fluent Spanish and English speaker, and conversant in Portuguese. I've worked in international corporations since I was 18 years old. That has given me the opportunity to share time and space with people from all over the world. I've lived in the US and Canada, and visited almost every state in the US as well as many of the Canadian provinces. I have Oceania and Europe in my "scope" next. PHILOSOPHY Just 'cause it "ain't broke" doesn't mean you can't make it a bit better.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I am brand new to couchsurfing.org although not to old-school couch surfing. I do plan to become more involved as a host when I settle in in the coming months. I do think that I should own a couch first, though. :-) COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE My first couch surfing experience was years ago in Brazil. I had a friend in Miami who went back home and invited me to visit her upon her return. I did just that and spent two marvelous weeks in Sao Paulo and Rio with her and her friends. Then came couches in New York, California, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. I accidentally became an "official couchsurfer.org surfer" while taking care of a gorgeous pooch May of 2010. The owner was an experienced couch surfer herself and recommended this site to me. My experience with her was been great.
Music, Movies, and Books
"Walden" by Henry David Thoreau "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson "Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka and my latest favorite..."The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho
One Amazing Thing I've Done
The most amazing thing I have ever seen is the destruction left behind by a category five hurricane a few hours after it passed through. It really puts your importance in check when you see how weak an insignificant we can be made to be by the force of nature. The most amazing thing I've ever done is pick myself up by my bootstraps and start from scratch all over again when everything seemed impossible; yet succeeded in spite of the adversity.
Teach, Learn, Share
I will teach conversational Spanish to couch surfing hosts everywhere! I've acquired a lot of sophisticated as well as extremely useless wisdom throughout my travels...all of which I am willing to share. As an example, I know how to make stilts out of soup cans and a whistle out of a blade of grass; I can also show you the inverse relationships between the stock market and some globally traded commodities. And yes, of course...yo hablo espan~ol y falo portun~ol. :D
My Interests
