Hello! I'm an American Student studying Germanic Studies and Linguistics at the University of Chicago. I am very passionate about language (particularly German), the history of science, and beer. Aside from my academic interests, I enjoy looking at birds, trains, old buildings, and fire escapes. I believe that you can find something interesting in everything, if you just look at it from the right perspective or with the right lens. I'm clean, can be quiet if I need to be, and am more of a 'wine on the balcony' than a 'shots in the city' sort of guy.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
A friend of mine once said, "There are just too many damned pictures of the Eiffel Tower out there." This basically sums up my travel philosophy, which I think most people here seem to share: Local, small, personal. The most striking thing I remember from my time in Rome was not the ruins, but the people that I met and the stories that I heard.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Arguably the best vacation I've ever planned was just an hour outside of Chicago, where I live. Some friends and I rented an old, historic house in a little town on route 66 with a population of 1000. We had so much fun just exploring this house and meeting the people in town.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am very passionate about languages, particularly dialects and their public reception. I would love to speak to anybody who has strong opinions about languages, particularly their own, and am always ready to share a linguists perspective on the matter.
