Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It’s been a long time since I’ve traveled outside of France.
As a self-employed entrepreneur, I’ve dedicated myself to my passion and my business,
but I’ve had fewer assignments, and the current economic climate has made it difficult for me to travel.
I want to turn things around...

Each times i travel i have some personnal contacts
but some times not.

It's my little sister (who live in Australia now) who advised me some years ago to use COUCHSURFING.

I’m a self-taught sound engineer, singer, and music geek.
I combine all of these to make a career out of it: computer-assisted music (CAM) and radio workshops for young audiences, song recording and mixing, hearing health education, writing and public speaking coaching, event planning…

I also appreciate anything that’s good for my health: meditation (karate), sports (I try…), semi-vegetarianism (I eat very little meat), spirituality…
Yes, I’m a dreamer, and I don’t want to change, even if the world may seem different.

I’m very involved in the cultural and community life of my city (Strasbourg), through a solidarity and cultural association (Maison Mimir: https://maisonmimir.fr/evenements/) and other underground, alternative, and musical movements by organizing events: concerts, video screenings, street art, and communal meals for everyone, particularly for the underprivileged and all young people or seniors in need. I run a “solidarity clothing bank.”

I’ve done a lot of work as a volunteer cook and organizer with a community kitchen association I founded with a friend, called “CANTINE SOCIAL CLUB,” where food is offered at a “pay-what-you-can” price for everyone: You choose the price; if you don’t have money, you can still eat—it’s not mandatory.
It’s on hold for now because the main location burned down, and also because I’m busy with other things as well.

I’m a singer/MC for a sound system, and I love singing in different styles, at different venues, and with different musicians during jams.
I organize my own jams in various places—they’re very open and freestyle.

I’ve produced several reggae and hip-hop soul albums and compilations.
My nickname or stage name is Don Valdes. I’m less active these days; I prefer to pass on my passion. A live band project is in the works.

I’ve been working with Cubase for many years using both professional and home studio equipment. I handle sound engineering on digital and analog consoles.

Film, video & photography: I love it and also produce professional videos and music videos using VEGAS.
I take lots of photos during everything I organize—for memories and to share—using a SONY camera. I take photos of others: portraits and events.
I’ve been creating visuals for years using Photoshop and other software. I love the creative process at every stage.

IT: I build and repair desktop and laptop computers (hardware) and install operating systems on them. I’m a jack-of-all-trades and work with iPhones, iPads, and smartphones.
This is a side job I do for clients and friends.
