I have recently been volunteering in refugee camps in France and Greece, you can read an article I've written here for the Norwegian charity Dråpen i Havet: https://www.drapenihavet.no/en/we-are-counting-down-the-holidays-get-to-know-nihal-and-rimas-who-now-live-in-refugee-camp/ So far on this trip I've spent a week in Kiev, visiting Chernobyl and the abandoned city of Pripyat, and a month in Belgrade, teaching English at a refugee centre: http://refugeeaidmiksaliste.rs/jamies-story You can find me on facebook as Jamie Janson. And some of the videos I've made at https://www.youtube.com/user/phemefilms/videos

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I am on a round the world trip, looking to meet up with couchsurfers and get to know a little about your home town.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I was left to referee a football match at Vial Refugee Camp on the island of Chios. 20 very uncontrollable refugee children (lots of energy, not enough to do, many traumatised by their experiences in Syria) ran screaming round the pitch chasing after 2 footballs. After a while we negotiated the new rules of 'Yallah-football': you can move the ball any way you like but you can't throw rocks at each other. It was a really fun couple of hours.
