Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Jan :)
I am a chemistry student based in Ulm, Germany. As a hobby, I perform as a street musician with my beloved bagpipes. I've been playing the bagpipes for over 8 years, and since autumn 2022, I’ve loved sharing my passion with people on the streets!
Last summer, I traveled across Germany using only Couchsurfing, filling many cities and quite a few homes with my Scottish sounds. I fell in love with traveling, and with Couchsurfing. And now I’m here :D
About me:
I love good company and meeting people from all over. I consider myself a fun and open-minded person, but I’ll let you be the judge of that. ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people and making friends along the way. Besides, is there a better way to experience new cities and cultures than being in direct contact with the people living there?
If you know a better way, let me know, because I haven’t come up with one yet ;)
Honestly, even if money weren’t a concern and the best 5-star hotel were free, I’d still much rather choose Couchsurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love to listen to music, but also to make music myself. Apart from bagpipes, I play the kalimba and the melodica. At the moment I am learning to play the accordion and a little bit the piano.
Naturally, I listen to a wide range of genres. From pop to rap, pretty much everything is there.
Some of my favorite artists at the moment are Casper, Macklemore, NF and J. Cole. So I guess it's mainly hip hop after all xD
I love listening to podcasts and of course I like to watch movies, even if I am no expert with films. However, my favorite genre has to be comedy. I’m always up for a good laugh! :D
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lots of things! From hiking in Saxon Switzerland and cycling between the castles in Edinburgh to partying in an old bank safe until 8 am in Berlin.
But the most amazing part has to be the deep conversations I had and the connections I made with the people who hosted me!
Teach, Learn, Share
Cooking is something I really enjoy, especially when I get to turn the kitchen into a fun, creative space with my guests or hosts. here’s nothing better than bonding over a good meal! ;)
I love science. But what I even love more is to bring it closer to people and share my enthusiasm with them. From fun facts to concepts of quantum mechanics, I love sharing my knowledge at any level!
