About Me
Hi, I'm Jan :)
I am a chemistry student in Ulm Germany, but now living in Gothenburg for an ERASMUS semester till February 2025. As a hobby I perform as a street performer with my beloved bagpipes. I have been playing the bagpipes for over 8 years now and since autumn 2022 I love sharing my passion with the people on the streets!
Last summer I did a trip all across Germany using only CS and filled lots of citys, but also quiet a few homes with some of my Scottish sounds.
And after all those amazing CS experiences, I’d like to redo the favour and start to host myself! You are very welcome in my home as a guest!
About me:
I love good company and meeting people from all over. I consider myself as being a fun and open minded person. But that judgement is up to you ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people and making friends along the way. Besides, is there a better way to experience new cities and cultures than being in direct contact to the people living there?
If you know a better way, let me know. At least I couldn't come up with a better way ;)
Honestly, if money was of no concern at all, and the greatest 5 star hotel would be for free, I’d still much rather prefer Couchsurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love to listen to music, but also to make music myself. Apart from bagpipes, I play the kalimba and the melodica. At the moment I am learning to play the accordion and a little bit the piano.
My musical taste cannot be reduced to one genre. From pop to rap, pretty much everything is there.
Some of my favorite artists at the moment are Macklemore, NF, Eminem, Tai Verdes, Alligatoah, Schmyt, RIN and Aries.
Unfortunately I don't read much in my free time. I already do that enough at university ;)
However, I love listening to podcasts and of course I like to watch movies, even if I am no expert with films. However, my favourite genre has to be comedy. I’m always up for a good laugh! :D
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lots of things! From hiking in Saxon Switzerland and cycling between the castles in Edinburgh to partying in an old bank safe until 8 am in Berlin, there's a wide range of experiences to enjoy.
But the most amazing thing has to be the deep conversations I had and connections I made with the people hosting me! Thank you all so very much!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love science. But what I even love more is to bring it closer to people and share my enthusiasm with them. From fun facts to concepts of quantum mechanics, I love sharing my knowledge at any level!
I also like to take my musical instruments with me on my travels and can share my knowledge there as well.
Maybe I can show you some card tricks as well. And if there is still time left, I can show you how to solve a rubiks cube ;)
I'm not a star chef, but I'm happy to share some my cooking skills and knowledge with you too!
We definitely can learn from each other ;)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer you pretty much everything I have :)
You can use my kitchen and kitchen utensils including various spices and of course a bathroom including a shower. I can give you some fresh towels you can use. There is a hair dryer available as well. You’ll have the opportunity to wash (and dry) some laundry. Internet access is quite easy via QR-code.
And I’ll gladly lend you one of my bikes.
If you are a more sensible sleeper, it shouldn’t be too bad, because it’s pretty quiet where I live and the room gets almost completely dark.
And if I have time, I’d love to show you around Ulm :)
