My name is Japp .
An introvert but enjoys socialising with like minded people. Easy going, laid back and very open minded.
Respectful, always curious to try new things and going above and beyond.
I am a nurse by profession but travelling is my passion.
6 years ago, I made a major shift to fly to New Zealand searching for better work and life opportunities; at the same time, finding myself more as a person exploring possibilities and getting away from societal bias and labels — gender, sexual orientation and preference, race, religion, mentality, etc. it’s a harsh reality we’re living in. My thinking used to be isolated within the 4 corners of this wee box always worried about what others say and think about you.
Fast forward to now, my life perspective has completely changed. Thanks to the people I met through the years.
It felt so amazing how time flies and how far I have become as an individual. I have met a lot of equally awesome and like minded people during roadies, casual hang outs, etc. It enabled me to engage to them and step into their world and learn how they perceive the world and life as it is. People from different walks of life — you will be surprised of who you will meet along the way. Until now, I still communicate with them regularly hoping for another reunion some where.
Feel free to connect and would like to know you too!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
First, I’d like to meet awesome like-minded and open-minded people who doesn’t mind a thing about societal biases and labels. I mean we are in the modern world now where people are so adaptable and flexible. That I really appreciate. I’m interested to learn about their cultural practices and norms, beliefs and ideas.
Second, I’m interested to having good times over beers and cheers while listening to their exciting travel and life adventures and basically learn from it.
Lastly, I’d be keen to challenge myself more and testing what I am capable of especially doing adrenaline rushing activities and crazy adventures that is.
I enjoy taking landscape photos using my phone as I do not have a proper camera yet. Hopefully soon I’d be able to get one and upgrade.
- road trips

Music, Movies, and Books
I don’t have a specific music, movie or book that I like but I’m always open to anything I find or see.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Woke up at 4am to hike the Roy’s Peak to see the stunning sunrise.
Doing relief operations during the earthquake back in the Philippines with the Philippine Red Cross
Hiked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing for 6 hours straight of day hiking having spectacular and otherworldly views of Mt Doom and other important landmarks. AND TWO HOURS DRIVER AFTER, jumped off a plane in 15,000 ft spontaneously with my German travel mate. That was insane!
Ate a scorpion in Thailand, a wood worm in Hokitika, and a wild rabbit and possum when my flatmate brought it home for dinner one Christmas time.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’ve always wanted to learn the guitar and the basics of German and Dutch languages.
