Hi, I'm Jack!

I am 34 years old, I am Brazilian and I live in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. I have a degree in civil engineering and have been working with it for 12 years. I always enjoyed meeting new people, making friends and getting to know different cultures. I started traveling early here in Rio de Janeiro and have already visited more than 20 cities in my state. My first trip out of the state was São Paulo, and there I got to know the capital, and other cities. I've been to Vitória, Minas Gerais, Maranhão, Curitiba and Salvador. I took my first trip alone in 2021 to Salvador and it was the best experience of my life!! I met people from other states, I got to know cultures and histories totally different from mine, it was amazing!
I love to talk, I'm too talkative, see? But I love to listen, tell me all your stories I guarantee I'll love it! I'm communicative and everyone says I'm a clown! I love to laugh, and I think life is too short for us not to see the bright side of things. I love doing tourist tours, taking pictures and visiting the local bars. I love to eat, tasting different foods for me is an experience!!! And I also love to try different drinks, a good local beer. I love music of all kinds, bars and pubs, squares, free walking, biking, tattoos.
I hate any kind of discrimination, I take my life lightly and I assume that we are all equal and that there is no one better than anyone else. I'm a free person, I believe that love and respect is the basics
of everything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After I took my first solo trip in Brazil, I started to explore this world of solo travel more and I want to know more and more places and make friends. I discovered Couchsurfing and was delighted with the site's proposal. Sharing experiences, doing a free walking with a local person, making lifelong friendships is my life goal!!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm very eclectic, I listen to all kinds of music but I love pop like beyoncé, taylor swift, rihanna. I really like Paramore-style rock, Bring me the Horizon, Classics like Elton John, Abba, R.E.M, Roxette. I browse the indie world for The Killers, Kings Of Leon, The Neighborhood... in other words, I listen to everything! hahahaha

My favorite movie is Eat, pray, love! I've watched it like 5 times and cried each time! I identify with the story, I think it's fantastic and I love Julia Robert!

I don't have a specific book that I loved very much, but I really enjoyed reading The Shack, The Man Who Didn't Love Women trilogy and some novels like Dear John.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a difficult question, because we are always asking ourselves about it. I think one amazing thing that I did for myself was actually travel alone. In addition to meeting people, getting to know cultures and places totally different from where I live, I got to know myself too. I learned to love myself, to enjoy my own company and I went on a quest for incredible self-knowledge. Today I know exactly who I am, what I like, and I realized that I really love being with people and exchanging experiences but that I also really love my company and doing things alone like sitting in a restaurant that I love, ordering my beer. and my favorite dish enjoying my presence.

Now, when it comes to something amazing that I've done for other people, I think it's helping out whenever possible. I'm very involved with social issues, I like to help with what I can, I think if everyone does their part, even 1%, the world starts to be different.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot to learn, like improving my English for example! hahahaha I'm a completely open person to learn and I think knowledge is never enough! Likewise, I think you learning something and not sharing it is lost knowledge. Grace is the exchange, it's the sharing. I love to learn, I love to teach and I love to share life stories. I teach food recipes like no one else, it's my favorite hobby by the way! I love to cook! ahahahahah
