Overview
About Me
"Life is about helping each other... not about competing with each other." -
I like philosophy, music, anthropology and any sort of art in which we can appreciate, understand and challenge society.
I enjoy meeting new people, sharing experiences, helping others and learning from different cultures.
Besides my interest in the cultures, languages, and peoples of the world (as most Couchsurfers, I'd assume); I'm passionate about literature and music. I would also consider myself (and most of my friends would agree) a silly and playful man.
I grew up in the coffee region of Colombia in a city called Armenia. I moved to the United States in 2018. I lived in the state of Maine, then in Philadelphia (PA), and I am currently based in San Antonio (TX), where I currently work as a Newspeak language Lexicographer at the Ingsoc company ;)
As a Surfer (guest), I like to think that I don't travel to see places, but to visit people. I truly love and value Couchsurfing’s anthropological richness: the stories, cultures, routines, and quiet moments that make us human.
I love seeing how others live, think, and feel... I love meeting people (specially those who defy stereotypes, who follow their guts, who feel like they don't fit... those who are against the system).
I am a long-life learner and I believe I can learn from and about anyone.
As a host, I consider myself pretty laid-back, respectful, and easy going. I’m happy to share space and connection. Mi casa es su casa. So feel welcomed, but please be respectful and considerate.
That said, a few things to know:
- Couchsurfing is a community, not a free Airbnb and definitely not a dating app. Please arrive and host with the right intention.
- I'm not into nightlife, clubs, or loud social scenes. Crowded, high-stimulation environments make me feel overwhelmed. I’m much more at ease in quiet, cozy spaces where conversation flows gently, or where silence is shared comfortably. I understand some people want to have a 'nightlife' experience, but I'm afraid I won't be your best option for that.
- Please read the "my home" section.
****** IF YOU DON'T HAVE REFERENCES, IF YOU ARE A MAN WHO ONLY HOST WOMEN, OR IF YOU HAVE "NUDITY" AS A RULE TO HOST, PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANY REQUEST, AS IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE REJECTED.*********
Either as a potential host or guest, Couchsurfing is all about sharing, learning, and making meaningful connections. Let's keep this culture alive by making a more human and better world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To get to know people, to learn about their lives, goals, and dreams. To satisfy my love for anthropology, languages, and cultures. To learn about the world. To help others and connect with friends I haven't met yet.
Interests
"Diversity is the given reality of human social action" (Higgins & Coen, 2000).
"The problem is not so much one of defining a political 'position' (which is to choose from a pre-existing set of possibilities) but to imagine and to bring into being new schemas of politicisation" Foucault, M. (1980, p. 190). Power/Knowledge.
"I am saying that a journey is called that because you cannot know what you will discover on the journey, what you will do with what you find, or what you find will do to you.” - James Baldwin.
I have a tons of interests, but my life mostly gravitates around books and music.
I want to have, live and enjoy a long, happy, healthy and peaceful life.
