ABOUT ME

My partner and I just returned from a year+ of travels, exploring Southeast Asia, India and Africa. We had many exciting adventures but we're happy to be home again and settled in one place for a little bit. We're back to work during the week and on weekends we are catching up with friends and family, biking, going to the beach, making art and puttering around the house and garden.

About me:

I am an artist, photographer and high school art and English teacher, originally from Victoria, BC. I've spent several years travelling, working abroad, and adventuring around Canada, going to music festivals, mushroom picking and arting in Montreal. The past few years, being island bound, has given me the opportunity to explore my home island, learn more about nature and foraging. My partner and I also recently bought a house which we've been busy renovating, and we're excited to be able to host when we're able.
I'm a very easy going, friendly and respectful person.
I love to meet new people and go on random adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been couchsurfing around Europe and Asia and have had only wonderful experiences. I feel lucky to have met so many kind and generous people. I love to learn the history and culture of where I am visiting and find that couchsurfing is the best way to do this.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been trying to diversify my reading list and read books from countries I've visited. I also really enjoy meta fiction and absurdism. Some of my recent favs have been Glory, The God of Small Things, Lincoln in the Bardo, My Uncle Napoleon, If on a winter's night a traveler, The Sea, The Sea.
As well as Paul Auster, Nabokov, Cormac McCarthy and Russian literature.
I like cult movies and dark comedies, if I had to choose a favourite movie I'd probably say Harold and Maude and La Haine.
As far as TV shows some favs are Peep Show and Seinfeld.
I'm into a lot of different music, mostly funk, hip hop, jazz and soul

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing up and looking into the depths of the Volcano, Mount Bromo on Java, Indonesia. Just to feel how alive and powerful the earth is, and to hear the crazy rumbling sound it makes.
Staying in The Crazy House in Dalat, Vietnam. An funky art project that you can spend the night in.
The transportation experience in Malawi and Mozambique was the most exhausting and trying experience, but definitely a memorable one.
