ABOUT ME

I'm 34, pretty easy going and like to investigate the underground hidden scenes in places which makes couch surfing perfect. My research involves my interest in how other show people place. I also love to meet new people and show them the city I live in. I love going for a walk, a derive, a wander.

Before the PhD I traveled and was lucky enough to meet great people through couchsurfing and to be shown the places which people love, make and live in.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that humans can get along trough mutual co-operation, not through hierarchy or authority. I respect all people and this is pretty much it. I will actively oppose anyone, thing or body that prevents positive human experience.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love local life, I am fascinated with how people around the world participate in their community and how the place interacts with them. I aim to bring interesting stories of where I am from and an open ear and mind to what people think of where they live. I aim to host people not only on the couch but in my favorite hang outs and give people my versions of the place where I am. Currently my house share is not ideal for couchsurfing due to the number of guests we already have coming through. But we can have occasional guests and I can always meet and show you around Brixton, where I live, or London generally.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Traveling I have stayed with couchsurfers who become friends and loved the experience. I have also shown tourists around London and Manchester. When I can I host or meet and walk surfers around London.

Music! weird!joy division, stone roses and other old Manchester scene. Also like noisescape, and newer music and electronic stuff, folk (from any part of the earth), all sorts really. Generally I read anthropology (I'm a geek). I also read about dreaming and discovering places. Currently reading a book about the situationists in cities.

I research the anthropology of localness and the ways people make and show place through walking which basically involves lots of walking about cities in a dream, I'll happy do this with anyone, not that it is much of a skill.
