Hi! I'm a graduate student in Ottawa, Canada, studying European Studies with a background in history. I just got back from a summer abroad; I've been to the UK/Europe twice mostly for school related purposes, and basically spend all my time back home dreaming of going back!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A lot of this past summer in Europe was spent on my own. And while I do love travelling by myself, it can get lonely very easily, which is why I decided to join Couchsurfing. I really enjoyed meeting new people, both locals and other travellers, exchanging stories, etc. There is just so much kindness in this community, and I adored being a part of it.

Interests

Travelling, of course! It's why we're here. I'm really interested in history, which was what I did my bachelors in. I'm also into music, theatre, and reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Mostly pop-punk or indie-rock. The Fueled by Ramen family of bands (Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Paramore, etc.) will always hold a special place in my heart. The Maine is probably my favourite band. And I've been listening to a lot of Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, etc. recently!

Movies: I watch more tv shows than movies (Orphan Black is my favourite right now, but I'll watch a lot of shows along the lines of Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Parks and Recreation, and the OC). For movies, stuff along the lines of Little Miss Sunshine, Love Actually, and Midnight in Paris are what I tend to enjoy most.

Books: Harry Potter will always be my one true love. Right now I'm reading "All the Light We Cannot See," and before that, "Song of Achilles" broke my heart. I love a lot of books, and am always happy to discuss and/or receive recommendations!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to school in a fifteenth-century English castle for a bit. With a moat and a headless ghost and everything. That was pretty neat. :)
