About Me

Hi! My name is Jia. I was born and raised in China, moved to the US when I was 18, lived there for seven years, and moved to Okinawa Japan in September 2024!

I'm a curious, open-minded person and love learning from others. I try to understand the world by having different experiences with different people, sometimes through work, sometimes through volunteering, other times through just reading and talking with people.

I speak okay Spanish and would love every opportunity possible to practice:)

可以用中文联系我:)

My husband is on Couchsurfing too. Here’s his profile: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/sam.verde

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people. There's nothing I love more than meeting cool people and having deep, thought-provoking conversations.

Music, Movies, and Books

I not big into music, but I do love the Beatles. I also like to listen to audiobooks and explore different political podcasts to expand my worldview.

The book that probably changed my worldview the most - "The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark" by American astrophysicist Carl Sagan. It encouraged me to tune out the noises and look at the world from a rational, critical point of view.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camping in Grant Teton National Park in the US and seeing the milky way for the first time was one of the most emotional experiences I’ve ever had. It was also the first camping trip I've done with my then boyfriend (now husband!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Being a good listener, because I really love learning about people and their stories. Please tell me everything!XD

Having lived in both China and the US, I have more than a few things to say about both countries. I'm also very willing to learn about people's opinions and revise my own. Let's talk about culture and geopolitics!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, China, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam
