My name is Cecilia, or you could call me "Jingbing" which is the pinyin of my Chinese name. I was born in Anhui province, China. I spent the first 23 years of my life living and studying there. I have always been passionate about language since it is an excellent way to get to know a different culture and a different people. With a dream to be a simultaneous interpreter in mind, I came to Newcastle, United Kingdom to pursue my postgraduate studies in MA translaitng and interpreting. As I lived in Newcastle, I found the people here kind of aloof and indifferent to foreigners. As I extend my hand of friendliness to them, it's hard to feel the same friendliness being projected back on me. Life here is sometimes dull, depressed, and I've got nothing else to do except practicing interpreting, so during vacation, I opted for traveling during which I could meet interesting, wonderful people and enjoy wonderful adventures. Deep inside me, I have an intuitive desire for adventures and an intense curiosity for new things and places.

I'm crazy about couchsurfing because I love its basic idea. The idea that people not yet know each other exchanging something without any money or materal things involved. It's only about the people and time. An idea so in conflict with how this world usually spins...sadly. At the end, life is just about the people and the time, isn't it? The people you have crossed path with, talked with, laughed with, cried with, the people you care, the people you love... The time you have shared with them... all those memories...These memories are like flowers in your heart's garden. They will never die or they die when you yourself die.
