Hi, I'm Joe! I live in Beijing at the moment and I'm from a city called Brighton on the South coast of England. I get to travel a fair bit with work and love exploring new places and cultures and meeting nice people :) I've been learning Japanese for a few years now and I would say I'm intermediate level. However, even though I live in Beijing, my Chinese is pretty basic!

I always enjoy meeting people when I travel, whether it's locals or other people travelling.

Interests

I'm passionate about using technology in creative ways, and when I'm not being a geek I love finding interesting and unique places that are off the beaten track or hunting down hidden dive bars! Computer games can be fun too, and in Asia obviously all the food is totally amazing.

Music (in no particular order): Italo Disco, DIIV, KPP, Molly Nillson, Father, Beach Fossils, Perfume, psych, chip, techno, arabic, synthesiser, 80s, grindcore, numbers stations, folk, abstract electonic, lounge, ambient........

Movies: I have a soft spot for 80's horror and anything a bit different and interesting :)

Books: the last books I read were an old copy of Day of the Triffids and GYO by Junji Ito.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning! And I also love teaching, so I'm sure we can find some skills and knowledge to swap :)

I use lots of creative software, such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Blender, Cinema 4D, Ableton, Logic, Avolites Ai, Resolume etc. I can also share knowledge on video, projection mapping, event lighting, sound and music production and engineering etc.

My music taste is very broad and eclectic, so I'm sure we will have good things to share if you love music too!
