About Me
Hello friends!
My name is Johana, but most people know me as “La Chiqui.”
I’m from Patagonia, and I’m incredibly proud to say so because life here in the south is truly wonderful! And who wouldn’t want to visit Patagonia? I was born here, that’s even better !
I’ve been working in tourism since I was 20 years old. I’m a tour guide for almost all the excursions offered in Bariloche, working with both Argentinians and international visitors.
I’ve always had a knack for connecting with people—it’s never been hard for me to quickly build trust and rapport.
I consider myself a friendly, easygoing, honest, and very generous person. I’m a nature lover and a passionate advocate for its protection. I adore the mountains, but I also enjoy going out, dancing, and having a drink. I’m flexible and always eager to keep learning and growing as a person. I’m open to constructive feedback because it’s the best way to improve.
I have a dog, Merli, who is the love of my life. He’s been with me for seven years, and my life revolves around him. He brings me so much happiness.
It’s been quite a while since I last hosted people, but I want to start using this community again because it has given me so much in the past.
Over the course of a year and a half, I hosted more than 80 people, and I met amazing individuals who inspired me to start traveling. I’ll always be grateful to Couchsurfing because, without this community, I might never have found the courage to explore the world.
Today, I’ve visited 30 countries, and traveling has become my ultimate reward at the end of each work season.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started hosting people because I had a lot of free time and a deep desire to explore the world, at least by hosting travelers, as my financial situation back in 2013 didn’t allow me to travel.
I started humbly, hosting just a few people at a time, but it quickly became an addiction. Things spiraled into a beautiful chaos, and I ended up hosting a lot of people at once. It completely transformed my life in the best way possible.
Those were incredibly fun times, and I met amazing people who, to this day, are still great friends.
Unfortunately, my current lifestyle and work schedule don’t allow me to host anymore.
Interests
-Tourism is what I like the most, I have studied "Patagonic Tour Guide" for 2 1/2 years, and another career or 3 years, also tourism but more about administration and creation of tour packages.
So I am the kind of person who thinks that there is no difference between a tourist and a traveler, because I work every day of my life with tourists and I can see the astonishment on their eyes, and the effort they have made to be there, and how interested they are about the life in my city or my country, I saw tears of old women in front of the first snowfall of her life and I saw people embracing looking at a landscape speechless.
Enjoying a trip is not about if you take or not a tour, or if you stay in a hostel or in a hotel, it is about feelings, traveling is something that can be done in different ways and I do not like to tag people that way.
-Get to know the mountain is definitely my favorite part of living in Patagonia, i love trekking, so I go for a walk almost everyday with my dog and usually in the fall season I do longer walks because it is when I have more time to do it and also the landscape it is amazing with the mix of colors.
