Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Johanna and despite having lived in many different places in the past few years, I am now back in the city I feel most home at: Tartu, Estonia.
I am interested about life in general, but especially in politics, books, urban spaces, art, movement, conscious travelling and the outdoors.
I love walkable cities, long train journeys and feel happiest in nature. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
I mainly enjoy indie, rock, alternative and folk music, or combination of some of them.
The band closest to my heart is probably Bear's Den, but I've also had my The Smiths, Pink Floyd and Coldplay periods. I would say that I am rather open to listening to quite everything, from instrumental to classical to folk to indie to hiphop to pop to techno to death metal.
I enjoy books that remind the reader, that despite our differences, in our very core, all humans are similar in some ways, and what a joy and privilege it actually is to be alive.
Autobiographies: "Educated" by Tara Westover, "When Breath Becomes Air" by Paul Kalanithi
Fiction: "Soviet Milk" by Nora Ikstena, "The Collector" by John Fowles, "Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery... and lots of Estonian stuff!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walked the Portuguese route of Camino de Santiago alone. But not really alone, because I met many beautiful souls along the way and they stayed with me even after we had drifted paths! :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I am fascinated by stories. Everyone is a narrator of their own story and an actor in others' (and also their own) stories. I believe that stories are what shape and unite, but also separate us – in total, they teach us the art of being a human. As people on Couchsurfing definitely have many interesting ones to tell, I hope that we could share them and hopefully have fun chats! :)
And of course I would absolutely love to learn how to cook your favourite (traditional, for example) foods! Or to learn your language! I am fluent in Estonian and English, but would also be especially happy to improve my German.
