Overview
About Me
Hi, my name is Johanna. I love travelling (but I try to keep an eye on my ecological footprint), reading, music, learning new languages, meeting friends and making new friends. I grew up in Berlin and I lived in Scotland for a voluntary year of social service. I now study medicine in Lübeck, Germany.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am new here and hope to meet nice people from around the world. I don´t like the thought of mass tourism which promotes to travel to every beautiful place around the world without having spoken to the people living there. For me, travelling is not only about taking pictures of the most famous sights and landmarks. In my opinion, travelling means to discover beauty and uniqueness in any place and its people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh, I think that´s a difficult one. My interests in books and music are so diverse.
I sometimes enjoy classical music (Tschaikowsky) and in the next moment I listen to electro (Paul Kalkbrenner, Martin Garrix, Klangkarussel) or alternative/indie rock (Imagine Dragons, Snow Patrol).
I appreciate a good book. And I think there are very good classics (Jane Austen or even Goethe) and new novels. Recently "The Kite Runner" was very fascinating and I just read "Gone Girl" which was enthralling.
I think I just list some of my favourite movies: "Dans la maison" (extremely fascinating French movie by Francois Ozon), Pride (new very funny and interesting British film), "The Intouchables" (also French and so touching and funny at the same time), "Frida" (about the artist Frida Kahlo) and "Peaceful Warrior" (extremely inspiring, about accepting, strength and finding inner peace). I probably will think of plenty other good movies in a few minutes, but these are the ones that came to my mind quickly.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went on several hiking trips in Laponia (Scandinavia) with my family from a young age on. To experience nothing but nature for over a week is just a great feeling.
I went on an Interrail trip through Europe with my best friend which was a great experience directly after finishing school. I think Europe is so diverse and beautiful.
In addition, I think it was thrilling to live abroad in Scotland. I was really impressed by the beautiful beaches on the Isle of Harris with white sand and turquoise water. In the end of my time in Scotland, I finally saw dolphins at the Moray Firth. I am still quite excited about it.
Teach, Learn, Share
As I like cooking (I tend to eat vegan most of the time) I love exchanging recipes and cooking together.
I can offer some German as I am a native speaker.
I learned French, Polish and Spanish for some time, but I don´t need these beautiful languages so often in daily life so I forget a lot. I would love to just learn some more or refresh some vocabulary.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love interesting conversations, cooking and just enjoying the moment. Lübeck might be a small town, but it also has a good nightlife which guarantees some fun nights out.
