I started using the Couchsurfing app a few years ago while backpacking through South America. During my eight month trip, I stayed with only six hosts; however, I used the “Hangouts” feature in pretty much every city I visited. I made some wonderful new connections, lived many stories still to be told, laughed until it hurt, drank a lot of beer, and even made one or two real friendships—all thanks to this app. Couchsurfers showed me and taught me so much about themselves and the world, and I feel like they changed the way I travel forever. Therefore, I figured it’s time for me to finally give back to the community and start hosting as well. I consider myself adventurous, open-minded, and easygoing, as my profile suggests.
