About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just trying to figure out what makes me happiest in life.

ABOUT ME

I'm 24 and been on-and-off traveling since I was 19 when I first hitchhiked the USA. Since then I've been an adult education instructor in social services, a salesmen for a telecommunications company and a English teacher in a Thai Primary School.

I left the United States in Feb 2014 when I felt my career was taking too much of a toll on me personally, so I've been to many different countries trying to learn more about the world and about myself. I consider myself very adventurous and pretty easy to get along with, so the lifestyle fits me well!

When I travel I enjoy both hostel/hotel travel when it's affordable as well as pitching a tent (or sometimes just lying in a nice patch of grass!) I think hitchhiking is my most enjoyed way of transportation as you meet some of the friendliest and interesting people that way!

I have years of classes in Japanese, French and Italian as well what I've picked up in Thailand over the last 7 months; though I can barely speak a sentence in any of them anymore! I'm quite bad at language but I am still attempting to learn Dutch right now. So far the only words I can usually remember is Gezellig and Lekker, but at least they are the most fun words!

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not sure, I'm agnostic but respectful of religion, I love my country but am embarrassed by my government, very accepting of peoples lifestyle choices and open about most things. I think my personal philosophies change so much traveling that it is hard to put in words.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host and I travel! Sometimes it's a ride or buy someone new to town a beer if I don't have a place to stay, but anyway I can fit it into my life I try to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted but as of writing this right now (Oct 24, 2014) I've never actually been hosted. I was generally hitching around without much of a plan through Europe and in Asia it's often just a euro or two for a room.

Interests

Beer and brewing, world architecture, cultural and music festivals, films, camping and hiking, traveling at my own pace without an itinerary and some other stuff.
