About Me

My name is Julia, I was born in Uruguay and that’s where I spent my adolescence. However, I feel it's just the place where I grew up, since I’ve lived in Spain and New Zealand, enriching myself with their cultures and the different people I met in each place.
I work as a pastry chef, and in my free time I enjoy exercising, reading, watching series, and taking care of my garden. When I spend time with friends, I like going for walks, playing board games, or sharing a meal that can lead to very interesting conversations.
Something a bit different about me: I travel with my stickers and I love exchanging them or just giving them away. I also travel with my mate (a traditional drink from my country). Maybe we can share some mates together sometime!
I know I don't have references at the moment, but I’ve used this platform before when I traveled to Japan with my sister, who already had a CS account (I didn't at the time). Some of our previous hosts left reviews about me on her profile. If you'd like, you can check them out here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/otradelmonton

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hey there!

My adventure began 8 years ago thanks to my sister Joana (in my view of the world, my siblings are a fundamental part of my life—so if we get to know each other, I’ll probably tell you about them).
She and her partner are two globetrotters who, when they began their journey through Japan, invited this humble stowaway to join their adventures—changing my life forever!

That trip opened my mind and completely transformed how I see the world. It was then that I discovered how much I love exploring new places and pastry. I ended up making a drastic decision: I canceled my return to Uruguay and chose to keep discovering the world instead.

From there, I went to Spain, where I dedicated myself to studying, working, and—of course—traveling whenever possible. I spent about five years doing seasonal work in different parts of the country.
Eventually, I felt it was time for a new direction, so I headed to New Zealand.
There, I continued growing professionally and exploring this beautiful and lesser-known corner of Oceania.

Now, the adventure continues! I'm back in Europe, currently doing a new work season in the Balearic Islands—and looking forward to whatever comes next.

I’m always open to meeting kind souls, sharing good stories, learning from others, and building memories along the way. If our paths cross, I’d be happy to connect—maybe over a homemade dessert! :)
