About Me

I study economics for a living and care about the environment and social change, obviously enjoy traveling and love learning. In my free time I am a start-up consultant and engage in several projects on sustainable development. Such as organizing the first TEDx event in my city.

Having meaningful connections with wonderful people is the greatest gift life has to offer, I believe. Which is why I cherish the relationships I have so far and look forward to building beautiful new ones.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For making meaningful connections with people from all over the world.
To try something I haven’t done before and to expand my confort zone.
To get to know new opinions and perspectives

Interests

I enjoy cooking in my free time and love preparing dinner with friends. Despite doing a three week internship at a restaurant where my occupation was to cut onions for the whole time I kept my passion. Though it ruined my childhood dream to become a professional chef instead. But I learned to cope with that ;)

Cheese is love. There is really nothing to explain about this.

Behavioral Economics is a great way to learn why Austria has more organ donors than Germany and why it matters in what order food is displayed at a cafeteria.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading great books! Here are some of my favourites:

“Schachnovelle“ by Stefan Zweig - for the beauty he brings to the german language even in the most sinister topics

„Vom Schlechten des Guten“ by Paul Watzlawick - for the effortless wisdom it provides

„The prague cemetery“ by Umberto Eco - for the lip curling cynicism and Eco’s vast knowledge

„Steve Jobs“ by Walter Isackson - for the multilayerd depiction of a complex character

„Joseph Fouché“ by Stefan Zweig - for the fascinating glimpse behind the curtains of one of the most exciting times in world history and one of its most influential protagonists

„Thinking, fast and slow“ by Daniel Kahneman - for revealing the inner workings of my decision making to myself

„Siddartha“ by Hermann Hesse - for the endless beauty

Movies/ Directors I love:
Shutter Island - Chris Nolan
Studio Ghibli Movies
Movies by Wes Anderson

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Luckily there have been numerous ones and I love revisiting these moments by going through pictures I took or reading some of the thoughts I have written down.

Some of these experiences were incredibly exciting to me like walking bare feet through Amsterdam in winter (my shoes were brandnew and killing me so I had to take them
off) before giving a Pitch for a TEDxTalk. I was so nervous before the talk that I thought of ways how to chicken out. What if I simply break my arm? Then I wouldn’t have to step on stage, right? These were the thoughts running through my mind in the unbearable minutes before giving the talk. However, as soon as I was on stage I suddenly started relaxing and enjoying everything and had one of the most meaningful moments in my life.

Some of these experiences were rather mundane like smelling a familiar fragrance in a foreign city which reminded me of a person important to me whom I haven’t had contacted for a long time.

And others happen while simply reading a book which is able to put in words the way I feel better than I ever could.
