Hello 🌐! I am Kai: Franco-international; a dreamer and idealist; an engineer and rational thinker; an awe junkie and artist. I have no idea what I am doing here, but I try many things, and do my best to finish a few. I got good at building tech, running startups, and managing communities. Music, Movies, and Books
# Music If I had to name just one band (*self-inflicted pain*), I'd say Infected Mushroom. They somehow manage to capture the insanity of the mind, breaking from its chains, getting lost in the ether and eventually finding peace (sometimes). If I wanted to be a bit more exhaustive, call me nerdy, but I have logged every single song that I have listened to for the past 20+ years: http://www.last.fm/user/kaielvin 🤷♂️ # Movies I won't admit here that I have a thing for cheesy romantic movies like The Notebook. I should also avoid mentioning the coming-of-age as genius genre, like The Social Network or The Queen’s Gambit. Maybe I'll skip this whole section, it is too revealing. # Books The Selfish Gene 🤯
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I used to go on months-long travels without money nor destination. I would hitchhike my way to wherever the wind takes me. The deepest I have gone was probably days of boat into the Amazon forest. If boat hitchhiking wasn't a thing, then I made it a thing. I should really avoid mentioning Into The Wild at this point.
Teach, Learn, Share
When I get to know someone, I like to have some difficult 1-on-1 discussion, where I look at their blind spots and tell them what I see. They usually later thank me for it. That's absolutely optional though. I am learning dance (salsa, cuban salsa, blues) and definitely looking to practice (at home or at some dance party).
