About Me

I'm jettisoning everything to travel for as long as I can make my money stretch. On my world adventure I'm hoping to meet new friends with similar and differing interests. I'd consider myself an open person, yet fairly blunt. Although, my motivation behind that is to make sure people know I'm being accepting and honest, and that's all I expect in return.

I love to cook, write, and will try my best to stay healthy during travels. But I am open to all new adventures!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Starting May 2017 I'll be traveling for about 12 months. One of my hopes for traveling is to meet new friends from around the world. Not only that, I personally think Couchsurfing can be another part of the experience when traveling for that amount of time.

I'm being a little selfish, too. During my travels I'll be keeping a blog (Kait Flaked), and am thrilled to incorporate locals suggestions and excitements about where they live.

In short, I would love to be able to learn from locals, and have the chance to meet new friends from around the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I studied abroad in Spain, I couldn't miss the opportunity to run with the bulls. And although the actual running was incredible, the day and night before were of equal excitement.

I went with a few Spanish friends and we sat in a section with an older Spanish crowd - but they were fantastic and took us under their wing for the night. It eventually led to me drinking far too much sangria and eating far too many cookies. And before the night was over I had danced on stage with a local band, took a nap in the park, and completed a fountain fall!

Teach, Learn, Share

If anything, I really want to learn about you as a person, your interests, why you love your city, and if worse comes to worst, why we differ. I think there's a reason one chooses to travel this way, and it's driven by the people I'll hopefully meet.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook, write, and share Austin with anyone who would like to visit. If you find your way to Austin, I'd do my best to show you around the fun (and mostly free) things, as well as not just barbecue, but the great food scene Austin has to offer.
