About Me

Become one with my thesis

Hi there! My name's Kamran. I'm doing my Master's degree from Germany. I'm sometimes a bit shy but generally an easygoing and open-minded person. And for some reason people tell me I'm funny :P. I like watching series and movies, listening to music, visiting new places and meeting new people. I also like reading books, traveling when I can afford it, surfing the internet, reading up on current affairs (I love international politics), and hanging out with my friends. I'm a TV show addict.

I like hearing people's views on things and telling them my views about them. That's why I'm interested in people of all kinds so I can learn more about the world. Traveling is one of my greatest passions, although doing that on a student's budget is kinda hard :P.

My personal philosophy can be summed up by this quote from the TV series The Heroes

"We dream of hope, we dream of change, of fire, of love, of death, and then it happens, the dream becomes real. And the answer to the quest, this need to solve life's mysteries finally shows itself, like the glowing light of the new dawn. So much struggle, for meaning, for purpose, but in the end we find it only in each other. Our shared experiences of the fantastic, and the mundane. The simple, human need to find the kindred, to connect, and to know in our hearts that we are not alone."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just looking to make some new friends and meet some new (and, hopefully interesting) people. :)

I've never hosted anyone until now but I have surfed a lot and the experience has been very positive. I've had the privilege to meet really open-minded and extraordinary people who have told me all sorts of interesting things about their travels. I've also participated in many CS meetings and the experience has always been overwhelmingly positive.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot of books but almost no non-fiction unrelated to my studies.

In music, I usually like all kinds of songs depending on my mood from alternative rock to indie to trance to house to whatnot. The only kind of music I don't like at all is heavy metal. It's just not my thing.

My favorite movies of all time are A Few Good Men, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Avatar, Goodbye Lenin!, My Cousin Vinny, and many more. Lately I'm very into French movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood on top of the Monument to the Age of Discovery in Lisbon, Portugal and gazed at the water on one side and the impressive view of the city from the other side.

Countries I’ve Visited

Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Pakistan, Portugal, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Pakistan
