So happy to visit Hilo! Interested in People & Places and love to hear everyone's stories. I have an open heart as I move forward with a firm step. Experienced Female Swedish-American Art Instructor of FIne Art & Design. Taught at Academy of Art and Portland Community College. Information Design Created for & Published in TIME, NEWSWEEK & the NEW YORK TIMES. Art Directed San Jose Mercury News & the Washington Times.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to listen to others. I love to hear their stories. And, I have a few stories of my own, to share, as well. In groups, I help set up & clean up. I create flower arrangements out of anything in the garden. Love to welcome newcomers, children & pets.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as yet ... but looking forward to meeting more wonderful & interesting people ... as we all journey our days ahead, no matter ... where that may take us.

Interests

Being kind to ALL people, to all animals and to all of nature. Observing the endless beauty in life to enhance the appreciation of Nature for myself & my students. To help protect children & animals are of great concern to me. I have been a Soroptimist & and Odd Fellow for many years. Most recently, I have just started to assist with the 'DRESS a GIRL around the WORLD' Project. This helps little girls be safer and also helps to raise their self-esteem, as well. These three groups are wonderful and very compassionate pro-active people. A favorite topic of conversation of mine is ... to acknowledge that every person has been blessed with a grand talent ... even though they may have not realized that talent, as yet. And, also, to remind and to help others 'find the Art inside of themselves' ... as an Art teacher. I love to assist them in this exciting quest! Overall, Life is very GOOD !

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Netflix. Love all the old movies from England. Love the Documentaries. Love all music, especially Il Volo, Jonathan & Charlotte, Bruno Mars, Willy Nelson, Pavarotti, Susan Boyle, Paul Potts, Nora Jones, Diana Krawl, Merle Haggard, Gene Watson, Patsy Cline & many, many more. I read and research many hours a day on the computer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I went to see & hear Mother Teresa in the late 1980's in Santa Cruz, CA. Fate was with me ... for I was only 5 rows from her. They let us write down questions, for here to answer ... on little index 'recipe' cards. So very shockingly, she chose MY question first ... which read, 'How does one get along with a difficult person?" She, so softly answered, "The most important thing that we must learn to do ... in our lifetime ... is to be able to LOVE the UNLOVABLE!" And, of course, we all know, she LIVED this ... for she nursed the LEPERS ... who NO one wanted. Since then, each time I meet a tyrant, I get calm inside and KNOW what a hard background they must have come from ... to be so grouchy, today. Mother Teresa, personally, has helped me so. WOW ... WAS I Blessed to have been in her presence, let alone, she chose my question first !

Teach, Learn, Share

In Hilo, at present, I would love to TEACH BOTANICAL Illustration, Basic DRAWING to Design Your Own TATTOO and also GRAFFITI-FINE ART in your Studio, your Shop, your Store, your School or even your Home. Life is School - as we ALL learn so much ... from one another. 'To Share' - is one of the most important things that we humans can do - each day, in any way and every way we can. World Peace begins with Sharing.
