About Me

Grew up mostly in the North Georgia mountains, used to be a middle and high school band director, quit my career and sold everything to move to Europe in 2017. Backpacked all around for 2 years and used (and fell in love with) Couchsurfing.

Moved back to the USA in 2019. Was supposed to be in Savannah for one year and then move to Australia, but COVID hit and changed everything. Got stuck in Savannah for 5 years and hosted as often as I could to give back to the Couchsurfing community.

Backpacked Central America in 2023 and it reignited something in me. I finally left Savannah and moved to Chicago in 2024.

I'm not currently hosting but I'm back to traveling when I can.

I'm currently a bartender, a tour guide, and I work in film. My ultimate goal is to have my own show where I travel and talk about local vegan food. Like a vegan Anthony Bourdain.

I am almost one year sober from alcohol, although I still enjoy spending time in bars.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For surfing - I want to meet people who show me what life is like wherever I am. Show me all the coolest places, teach me cool phrases, and drink all the cheapest, best wine and beer with me. You'll have a friend for life after I depart, too.

For hosting - I just love hosting and showing off my city. Don’t be boring. If I have to spend more energy TRYING to get you to talk to me or my friends than it takes to actually have you talk to me or my friends, don’t request to stay with me… Couchsurfing is about community. Speak.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Seeing as I studied and taught music, I can appreciate all music for what it is. However, I have an affinity for music that makes my FEEL THINGS. Glass Animals and Regina Spektor are my fave. (I also have a soft spot for My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, all that good 2007 pop punk/emo nonsense. No shame.) Also love Twenty One Pilots, Arctic Monkeys. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ibeyi, Jain, Matt Maeson, Apashe, Mindchatter, Mr. Kitty, Crooked Colours, Parov Stelar, Caravan Palace. Gosh, I could go on forever...
Movies - Les Mis, Moulin Rouge, and any Rom Com ever
Books - Trying to find time to read is tough… I tend to read a few books a year max. I’m trying to get better at it because I liked reading a lot as a kid and I think modern day has tainted that for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Worked on a freezing cold, snowy farm in Scandinavia in the middle of winter. Became great friends with the 70 year old owner. Such a great woman.

Traveled from Savannah to Seattle on a bus and then back. (That's literally one corner of the USA to the complete opposite corner, y'all!) It was 8 days roundtrip on a bus with no real meals, sleep, or showers. You learn a lot about yourself in these circumstances... such as humans are a lot more resilient than we think we are.

Taught English to adults in Morocco.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I can teach you about what it's like being born and raised in the South. While I still consider myself a "Southern Belle" deep down, I am certainly an anomaly amongst my family and friends, especially due to my love of traveling solo. Unheard of for a Georgia peach! Nonetheless, I still do it. ;) I can also teach you how to conduct.
Learn - I love languages and need to brush up on my French, specifically. I can read and write it almost fluently, but my accent is wonky and I'm terrible at listening to it. Practice makes perfect!
Share - Pasta, pasta, and more pasta. Vegan food and ideas. Also information on your birth chart (zodiac).
