CURRENT MISSION Simplify ABOUT ME I'm a newspaper reporter. I love is going new places. After studying abroad in Nicaragua, I've really gained a love for experiencing new cultures. The more different the culture, the more uncomfortable you are at first, the more you stand to gain. So for now, I'm living my life and enjoying short road trips. I've learned that with the help of locals, just about any place is worth seeing. I've been a North Carolina girl til 2014 when I moved to Birmingham, Alabama. And I love it here! PHILOSOPHY I really like quaker practices, like sharing circles with speaking objects.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING So far, I've surfed in Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis, NYC and San Juan del Sur (Nicaragua). I've had great experiences in all of these places and I hope I can continue traveling and surfing when I do. Done a bit of hosting, and I really enjoy that as well. I've made some very real, very lasting friendships from my experiences that are much more than a place to stay if I ever return to these places. I love hosting because I feel like I'm traveling when I'm only in my living room. I also find that hosting forces me to go out and experience my city and get to know it better, more than I would do on my own. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Only positive experiences so far!
Music, Movies, and Books
While I love a good novel, I'm very into interesting non-fiction right now. All time favorites: As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner and Equus by Peter Shaffer. Music: Like most people, a wide variety. But mostly, I'm into country music right now. Favorites include Luke Bryan, Jake Owen, Justin Moore, and Florida Georgia Line. Movies: I'm not a big mover person, but some faves: Breaking Upwards, Wristcutters: a Love Story, State of Play, Fight Club
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I lived in a cult for a week in rural Nicaragua. Ask me about it, it's a great story.
