Why I'm on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Met a lovely couple on the train from Kosice to Budapest who invited us back to their place near Eger (wine town in north Hungary). was a great experience but felt pretty awkward at times, i think mostly because no one knew how to go about it. but lovely dinner and wine and talking anyway.
Music, Movies, and Books
books! just finished Wild Swans, a really fascinating book about China, from the fall of the last dynasty until now. Also just read a Tim O´Brien book about the Vietnam war and a book about the troubles in Northern Ireland. One of the best things on this trip has been seeing live music (especially in Hungary), i like a really wide range and want to hear more!
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Last month in Morocco in some dunes near the border of Algeria...a one hour sunset camel ride into a nomad berber camp where we cooked dinner and slept in tents made of rugs. all so much fun but it was the sunrise that blew me away. i´ve never seen a landscape change like that, from oceany blues in the predawn light to a spectacular orangeyred. WOW.
My Interests
Well I guess travel has to be mentioned here...but i love nothing more than reading. also swimming, hiking, lovely outdoors stuff. and during this trip i´ve realised how interesting the way museums and monuments are constructed, the way people remember and choose to record history. i want to learn more about this!
