I became an empty nester in 2014 and life seemed to start over and I was free to move about the world. I started traveling around the Pacific islands in 2014 and loved it. I spent 3 years living on Tinian, in the CNMI which is where my knowledge of CS started. I hosted several people on that little island and was the best tour guide for anyone that came to visit. New opportunities brought me to the opposite end of the globe to SE Alaska! Alaska is turning out to be another grand adventure and I'm excited for the next couple of years exploring this massive state. I want to travel as much as possible through the world but learning about the surroundings where I call "home" for a while is not to be missed. UPDATES: Apr 2026: Iโve come full circle. I left this town when I was 18 and had my mind set on seeing the world. Man I saw a lot of the world too, now back where I started and navigating my way yet through another phase of life- dealing with the death of a parent and spending time with the other as she ages and awaits her invitation to heaven to be with her life long love. No one ever told me about this stage. Feb 2023: I did it! Completed all 50 USA states by age 50! May 2022: On to the Midwest! Now in Lincoln as a home base to explore the Midwest. I'm hoping to complete my 50 states by age 50 by December, and all the states I have left are north of Nebraska. Nebraska is very different that what I imagined it to be. This is the best thing about traveling, it's almost never what you thought it was- most of the time it is better and occasionally it is worse. All part of the journey though. March 2021: I'm now living in Destin, FL. I'm starting to explore this area and am interested in other locals to share some of their favorite things about the area and I'm interested in discovering new places with passing travelers.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I was introduced to a great group of couchsurfers a few years ago, they were all wonderful people and I was instantly hooked with the idea that many people share my nomadic type of life. I think it's a great way for me to travel and meet new people and feel connected to others with shared outlooks. I also tend to meet up with local couchsurfers just for the day or events to learn about the area if in a place for a short time. I've introduced my daughter to this community too and I hope it helps her find her way through the world.
Music, Movies, and Books
So many... it is just easier to say I do not like horror movies. Don't like Rap music, thrasher music. My 2017 New Years Goal was to read at least 5 books for leisure and so far my favorite book has been Tales of a Female Nomad by Rita Golden Gelman. It was so interesting and seemed to mirror my life. I would highly recommend it for anyone male or female to read it for great humanity inspiration. My 2018 NYG was to travel to 5 new countries and I met and exceeded that personal challenge by visiting 10+ this year. My 2019 NYG is yet to be determined at this point... I'll be thinking of it but rest assured there will be traveling and explorations.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Lived on an island of 37 people and 2 MILLION Albatros birds. Nov 2019 finally made dream come true of visiting Antarctica!
