To be able to say: "Man, it was worth it!"
I am openminded, easygoing, I like travels and meet new people! Now check which CS groups I belong to :P.
I'm sarcastic, cynic and arrogant. I make fun of things most people find controversial to make fun of. I also DO need alcohol and drugs to have fun (notice that I DO NOT belong to the "people who don't need alcohol or drugs to have fun" group). I also know how to make it, i.e. alcohol and drugs :P.
Have you watched House M.D.? I'm quite like this guy. They even quoted me a few times in the series (e.g. "less reading, more TV").
I'm also inconsistent. I'm so inconsistent that I became consistent in my inconsistency.
I have a sense of humor. This means that I make jokes which I think are funny. I'll say that you also have a sense of humor if you laugh from my jokes! So, if you don't find this profile funny don't bother writing. If you do - feel invited to get drunk together.
When I get drunk, I speak about politics and public transportation! And when I'm really drunk, I speak Klingon!
OK, few little good things about me:
I'm curious about the world. I always want to check what's behind the corner (it's intrinsic), even if it doesn't really matter or is dangerous. This can lead to wasting time on nothing, learning how to fix the toilet, becoming interested in astronomy or getting a Nobel prize. At the moment I got through the first, second and third position on the list, I'm stuck on the fourth.
I did quite a few travels, I'm not afraid to go somewhere for the first time or to be in an unknown place. I boldly go where no man has gone before.
Never try. Just do.
If you want to do something, you will find a way; if you don't want to - you will find a reason.
Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.
Time doesn't change things. Doing things changes things. Not doing things leaves things exactly as they were.
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.
I used to have a drug problem, but now I make enough money.
I love hard work, I could watch it for hours!
I'm not completely useless - I can be used as a bad example!
A ship is safe in a harbour, but that is not what ships are made for.
I always wanted to become somebody, now I know I should've been more specific.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
O host people and I travel. I'm, quite active in the local community, I go to CS parties and meetings. I host people and I ask for a couch when travelling.
I've been using this website for over 5 years and I must say this project is great. I met great people here and expierienced some cool moments thanks to this website!
I did a bit of Judo.
Astronomy/stargazing. I've even won a Synta Skywatcher telescope on a star party in April 2010 (the one in the picture capped "observing Saturn"). Now I use a different, smaller telescope (the one in the main picture). It shows less stars, but is way easier to haul around. Still, I'll appreciate you giving me a hand setting up all the equipment. If the weather is good (i.e. clear sky), I'll be more than happy to show you some wonders of the night sky.
If you want to go stargazing with me, please read a bit about astronomy on the Internet. It would make things lot easier if you knew e.g. that this funny yellowish ball with a stripe around it is called Saturn and that's a planet. I also recommend downloading Stellarium and getting acquainted with the night sky.
- computer science
- study abroad
Music, Movies, and Books
Machete don't text!
I'm not a big movie fan or a book eater. I kinda liked watching Discovery Channel or National Geographic TV until my TV got broken. I sold that piece of junk for 5 euros. Life without TV is better!
Still, I do enjoy movies, especially if I downloaded them via bittorrent. I love John Carpenter's The Thing for the constant atmosphere of uncertainty and the special effects. I also like Requiem for a Dream for the nihilist climate and surprising approach. Taxi Driver for the overwhelming atmosphere of decay. Apocalypse Now for the overwhelming atmosphere of madness. And, of course, House M.D.
I just simply love Breaking Bad.
Books, I enjoy the ones that I can learn something new from. I enjoy textbooks, manuals, handbooks and how-to guides. I can recommend "Fixing Your Toilet 5th, revised edition" or "1001 Ways of Burning Your Computer While Trying to Fix it". On my bookshelves, you'll also find a lot of books about chemistry, computer science, astronomy; a little less about photography, travel guides, encyclopedia, dictionaries and historic books.
When it comes to fiction books I don't have a specific taste. I liked the Dune series. I like short stories (e.g. Night Shift) because they are good for reading in a tram or a train.
I like Bogumil Hrabal because he shows life from a perspective of an ordinary, happy person. I love the way in which historical turmoil is described from an ordinary man perspective in "Closely Watched Trains".
I loved Jerzy Pilch's "Pod Mocnym AnioÅem" ("The Mighty Angel: A Novel") for showing the mind of an intellectualist alcoholic in a black comedy way.
Music: I like classic reggae like Bob Marley, Israel Vibration or Black Uhuru. Female vocals (e.g. Dido, Sade, Feist) are on the list too, as well as classic Russian songs, especially performed by the Red Army Choir. Recently also Los Cuates de Sinaloa.
I enjoy listening to live music or listening using high quality equipment. If there is some live music going around - let's attend it together!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went on Erasmus to Gent, seen Chernobyl (in 2008, not in 1986) and the total solar eclipse (1.08.2008, Novosibirsk) while doing the Trans-Siberian.
I'm writing a blog about my trip to a second eclipse:
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some chemistry, computer science and astronomy. We can go stargazing together. I have two pairs of binoculars and a telescope. I'd be more than happy to show you the stars!
I'm easily interested in basically everything and I'll be happy to learn from you, whatever it would be.
