Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I've surfed both in the States and in Europe and am part of some pretty sweet CouchSurfing groups in Madrid. I talk CS up whenever I can because I believe in it. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I've always met really interesting, open people through couchsurfing and am looking forward to having many more CS adventures.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: from the Smiths and the Talking Heads to Manu Chao and Daby Touré to Gillian Welch and the Old Crow Medicine Show. Radiohead might be my all-time favorite band. I love sharing music. Some books that have impacted me in recent years: Moby-Dick, Cloud Atlas, Los Detectives Salvajes, The Power of One. My favorite is Cien Años de Soledad. I devoured Roald Dahl books when I was a kid and those have really stayed with me, too. I also seriously dig The New Yorker and This American Life. The Office (on DVD) is pretty hilarious.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Traveling in Patagonia for a month by myself when I was 20 and seeing glaciers, rocky peaks, meadows with horses, and turquoise lakes all in the same place.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm trying to learn Portuguese and more about bicycle maintenance. I can teach English, Spanish, and how to cook and bake a few tasty things (among them: brownies, pancakes, tortilla de patata, a good bean dip--and most vegetables you might have around). I'm happy to share everything I know about backpacking and mountains and some tips on urban cycling in Madrid.
My Interests
anything having to do with mountains, being outdoors, yoga, running, cooking and eating, reading, writing, taking photos, bicycling, music, seeing the world little by little ...
