About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to live a passionate life

ABOUT ME
**********
Update for summer 2018 (not only but particularly):
During this summer I would like to really work on my language skills! If you are a native French, Spanish, Italian or you just speak those languages fluently and you would like to help me and in exchange you would like me to help you with your Polish (or French on the beginner-intermediate level), don't hesitate to contact me :)
FR: I speak French fluently so with this language I'd like to find a person who'd be willing to help me with many linguistics curiosities that are difficult to find elsewhere but nothing extreme! I'd just like to be corrected whenever I make a mistake or say a phrase that is not grammatically incorrect but sounds weird or unnatural.
ES: I used to speak Spanish fluently as well but because not using this language very often I need to refresh it. IT: Italian is my new love since last year, I understand a lot because it's so similar to French and Spanish but I make a lot of little errors, I communicate well though and I'm not afraid of speaking which is the most important thing, right? ;)

Btw, I am very well aware of the meetings organized in Warsaw for the foreign language speakers but the thing is that I often work in the afternoons and evenings and I cannot attend them as often as I would like to.

______________________________________________
Hi! I'm Marta, I'm 25 years old, I was born in Toruń, currently I live in Warsaw. I study linguistics (French) and I absolutely love foreign languages and cultures! For now I speak Polish, French, Spanish, English and a little bit of Arabic and Italian but it's just the beginning - my dream is to be a real polyglote!
My second passion is cinema, maybe I'm not an expert in this domaine but I work hard to get the knowledge about it and simply to watch as much as I can:)
I am vegetarian, I love nature and when I don't breathe the fresh air in a forest from time to time, I go crazy and feel like I'm going to suffocate. You don't have to worry about this point, I never discuss vegetarianism with people who are not interested in this topic.

PHILOSOPHY

My life philosophy is simply to be free, literally but also free in a sense of having your own opinion, your own self and above all - think by your own brain and not let others (cultures, stereotypes etc.) make you think in a certain way. I consider myself (and others do as well) as an individualist. I try to live my life the way I want and I really hate adjusting (in many different senses).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been using CS from time to time for 5 or 6 years now, I started in Spain where I was just meeting locals, when I got back to my city Torun, where I was living on my own, I was a host. I traveled as a couchsurfer only twice but it was truly great!

Interests

I have two main passions in my life.
One of them is cinema. I love watching films - i could do it all day long! In my point of view films are like a good friend - it cheers you up when you're sad, when you're happy it'll share your happiness with you. It can show you very important problems and generally things in life it's worth to know about. It can also shape your personality. For me that's all what matters in movies.
My second passion is learning new languages and getting to know about new cultures. Those two things are connected. I speak well English, Spanish and French and a little of Arabic and Italian. Italian is a language that I currently learn by myself, I'm still on this level when I truly enjoy it and it's pure entertainment. I'd love to be a polyglot one day and find a job connected with languages.
I also like taking photos (when I'm in some fascinating place I take hundreds of them!) visiting new places and sometimes I like doing some artistic activities like origami or cards for different ocassions because it helps me to calm down and relax.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have one favourite movie, for me it's simply not possible to pick. At the moment my favourite director is probably Denis Villeneuve but that can change any time ;) I generally prefer European cinema than American one although I have to say that there are also many good American films. I appreciate as well documentaries, they can be a true piece of art! Last movie I really liked was Nocturnal Animals. My favourite heart-warming film is About Time.
My guilty pleasure is watching tv series although I don't want to think how much time of my life it took it from me;p
I also love reading books. My favourites are The Shadow of Wind (La sombra del viento) by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and Dangerous Liaisons by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. I like as well anti-utopian books like Brave New World by A. Huxley. The last book I loved was Catch-22 by J.Heller.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing a very, very, very high mountain in Jordan without any security, fighting all the way long with my fears!
The next amazing thing was sleeping on a desert and watching sunrise there, I'll never forget it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn how to live by enjoying my life experience. I'm a person who needs to plan everything and often worries about the future. I'm trying to learn how to get rid of it and focus on the present.
