Music, Movies, and Books
I specially like Brazilian and Latin genres (MPB, samba, bossa nova, cuban jazz, trova, etc) but I listen to many other things, as pop, rock, reagge (though I think this is also a Latin genre), and so on. Literature is also a great passion. In terms of tales, I think Hermann Hesse and Machado de Assis are my favorites. In terms of novels and romances I would choose Roberto Bolaño, Júlio Cortázar (they are also great poets), Fiódor Dostoiévski, Herman Melville, George Orwell, Ernest Hemingway, and Miguel de Cervantes. When the matter is poetry, the names that come to my mind are mostly from my birthplace, the Northeast region of Brazil, a place which overflows poetry, even through the prose writers. Ariano Suassuna, João Cabral do Melo Neto, Manuel Bandeira, Jorge Amado, Graciliano Ramos are just a few icons. The philosophy of Enrique Dussel enchants me. I am also a cinema enthusiastic, although I think I don't have the enough expertise to be considered a cinephile. Kubrick, Oliver Stone, Tim Burton, Gilo Pontecorvo, and José Padilha directed some films I really enjoy.
What I Can Share With Hosts
Memories. Of books I've read, talks I've had, classes I've taken, films I've seen, songs I've listened to, words I've written, places I've visited, and things I've done. I intend to build new and sweet memories along with my hosts.
