Hi, I'm Laura, a Finn who just moved to Basel. I'm hosting again, but unfortunately cannot accept requests that are too far in the future, my calendar tends to fill up with surprise trips. On the ESC week I'll have friends over, only the beginning of the week is maayyybe possible. But you can contact me for hanging out or coming to a viewing party!

If you're an open-minded, positive and curious person who loves to share thoughts and of course some food and drinks with others, I'll gladly hang out or welcome you to my home. I have a spare room, a futon in the living room and love having people around.

I spend time in Switzerland and neighbouring countries now, so don't hesitate to reach out if you are looking for new friends for climbing, hiking or techno/psytrance events, concerts, etc - I'm still looking for my people and community in the area AND ESPECIALLY A BELAY PARTNER. I have all the equipment for outdoor rock climbing and a car, but no belay buddies yet. :)

I've learned how generous and awesome people are while traveling, and I'm trying to pay that kindness forward by hosting. When I'm traveling myself, I'm not so thrilled about getting known to places by browsing TripAdvisor, only visiting the most famous sights or running after nice pictures and approaching travel like it's some sort of game - I like to chill, learn about people and how they live and see the world. I've found couchsurfing to be an amazing way to meet new people and get to listen to and share stories!

I try to hold on to a child-like enthusiasm about the things I love and make me smile. Nature, dancing, crafts, beer, music, climbing, travels, food, Eurovision - just to name a few things I can talk for hours about.

Music: indie/folk/pop in languages I don't understand + techno and psytrance.

Books: occasional non-fiction and fiction, I like books that make me think, but I tend to forget all plotlines very quickly. And I accidentally maybe founded a silent reading club here in Basel.

Movies: Everything Everywhere All at Once is a masterpiece of this decade and there's nothing you can do to change my mind! Watch it! I enjoy Wong Kar-Wai and all kinds of international movies a lot, and tend to wait before seeing any popular movies just to let the hype die out and kind of always have some guaranteed classics that I can still watch for the first time.

Sat on my butt, smiling like an idiot in the bottom of the ocean 30m deep watching thresher sharks swim by.
And then there was one bathing session in a mud volcano.
And hiking until 6am in the nightless night in Norwegian mountains.
Or paragliding in 3600m next to Matterhorn and throwing up (wait, how did that make this list).
