About Me

Hi, I'm a 26-year-old french woman who loves travelling and meeting new people.

I am currently in Stockholm, accompanying 5 french 16-year-old pupils during their stay in the city for their "european working experience" in the fields of child care and restaurants. They go to the internship places over the week and we visit the city and museums over the week ends: the point is that they get a cultural view of another country than their own.
They would be happy to meet a swedish family - ideally with teenagers - and learn how to cook a swedish speciality (with of course the possibility to teach how to cook a french dish or dessert).
If you or someone you know match with this description and want(s) to meet up, let me know! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During a road trip in Canada, I've been using couchsurfing for the 1st time, and I met a lot of great people. I was amazed to see how natural and welcoming the encounters were, and I was offered a lot: a place to sleep, but mostly a new friendship.

Interests

Horses, Travelling, Hanging out with friends, Discovering (people, cities, cultures...)

I spent 1 year and half in the north of France helping refugees full time (1 year as a volunteer and 6 months as an employee), and I'm trying to figure out how to keep helping from away, and how to raise awareness about the denial of basic human rights applied by France and Europe towards men/women/children fleeing from wars, threats and/or misery.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent the best year of my life in Canada with a working holiday visa from November 2014 to November 2015.
I worked for 6 months as a "customer fulfillment specialist" before starting a 6 months road trip.
It was the 1st time I felt so free, and had many awesome couchsurfing experiences across Canada. The craziest thing I've done (sorry, I was used to ordinary travelling experiences so far) was to hitch hike from Percé (Gaspésie,Québec) to Lake Louise (Alberta) in 7 days. After that, I worked there as a horse back riding tour guide for 3 months. Absolutely awesome, the landscapes are incredibly wonderful and working with horses was a dream I could never have made reality in France (you basically need a diploma for everything).

Other than that, here are some abroad experiences I enjoyed a lot.

After I got my social worker diploma in summer 2012, I worked in the institution where I had my last internship (of 8 months). As they already knew me, they decided that I'd be part of the team (3 youth workers including me) that would travel to Morocco with 7 teenagers. This was my first plane travelling, like for almost all teenagers! We mostly slept in an orphanage in Marrakesh, and visited some other places (Essaouira, the Ourika Valley, the Falls of Ouzoud...). This was an amazing experience, both professional and personal, I only regretted the "tourist-side" of this stay. It could have been a lot more enriching, especially for the teenagers, if we had been a lot less in "consummation" , and more in real life-sharing with the local people; or if we had done some humanitarian work...

After 2 bad au pair experiences (2012-2013), I finally had a great experience in Germany (August to October 2013). I worked for 3 months as a helper in a bakery and lived by a wonderful family (friends of friends). Learning everyday, being able to serve the customers and to do the job like any other employee using a language that's wasn't my first one, sharing the daily life with truthfully, really kind and helpfull people...all of it was such a great feeling! I loved this experience abroad, especially after having lived 2 "bad" experiences in the country.

At the end of the stay, I took advantage of the proximity of an airport to visit an Hungarian friend, met during my first au pair experience. She host me in her flat, guided me through the city etc It was really a great time, speaking something between English and German...there was a lot of laughs!

Another amazing experience was a 2-weeks job as a school trip supervisor in Stockholm. I lived in a rent house with 7 French teenagers who lived an European mobility work experience. I had to organize and supervise the daily life (schedules, meals, housework...)of course including the teenagers themselves in the organisation. During free time, we met the rest of the group (6 pupils and 1 teacher) who lived on the other side of the city and discovered some cultural spots of the city (the center, the Vasa Museum, the changing of the guard ...) I love Stockholm, and I really enjoyed having the opportunity to work with teenagers in such an original school trip.

Right now I'm in France...trying to figure out what to do with my life now that I have experienced Freedom.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach french, english and german (the 2 last only to beginners, but I can help middle level to practice :).
