About Me

To experienc and shar all corners of the world

I worked in a corporate job in America for 14 years; and like most Americans I didn't have a passport for most of my life. I got my first passport at age 30 and got the travel bug. At 36 I quite my corporate career in order to travel around the world. 6 years later, I'm still traveling, still exploring, and recording it all through my writing and photography. I spent ayear living and working in Vietnam - an amazing and challenging experience. However now I'm nomadic and I can do my travel writing work from anywhere in the world - so I keep exploring.

Even though I started as a novice traveler, I've become a veteran and have learned how I prefer to travel. I like to find off the beaten path travel; the unique, strange, cultural, parts of a society that is very different from my own culture. My passion is interacting with the people of a country or society.

I normally travel solo making friends along the way. I'm independent and never let being solo stop me from doing anything. I'm also quite social - and I love having a diverse group of friends.

The best way to learn about me is go to my website at - my life is out there for all to see. You're also welcome to check out my photography at - it should give you an idea of what I find important.

This is my favorite quote - and I think it applies to how I see the world and my place in it:
"Some Stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity"…-Gilda Radner

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am a true nomad with out a home, so unfortunately I'm unable to offer a couch at this time. However, I still feel like I can help the community through my writing. As I travel and CS I will write about my experiences and how it works hopefully bringing more visibility to the wonderful social network.

Since I do a lot of house-sitting, I feel like I"m very respectful of people's space and keep things tidy. I strive to go un-noticed when I stay with people...meaning I pick up after myself and leave a small 'footprint'.

Finally - for your kindness in hosting me, I'll happily provide you access to choose some of the photography that I took while in your city. I normally sell these photos on my website, but am happy to provide a shot or two for letting me use your couch!

I have couchsurfed a few times in Europe, but I also housesit, and simply stay with friends too.

Music, Movies, and Books

I honestly don't read very much since whatever spare time I have I usually am writing!
Movies - the darker more depressing the better!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's amazing that I stayed in my career for 14 years!

Seriously though, I just finished hiking the Annapurna Circuit with my father who is 73 years old. We hiked for 21 days and it was one of the most wonderful father-daughter experiences/challenges I can imagine.

I also participated in the Mongol Rally in 2011 driving a small car from London to Mongolia over 5 weeks for charity. And in 2012 I walked the Camino de Santiago trail in Spain. I have many more adventures brewing in my head for 2013 and 2014!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, France, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
